I'm so pissed though. What a fucking waste of money. Nevermind the fact that I never had random sex with random people. It's not like I have a shitload of sexual partners. And add to the fact that I had to have the whole awkward conversation with my boyfriend that I had it and I just wanted to let him know that he probably has it now too. Fun shit.
so that fucking HPV shot is definitely defective

Because I got it (the whole 3-shot series) 2 1/2 years ago and my gyno's office just called me to say that I have hpv and need to have that procedure to
get my cervix scraped. Like my culture is completely normal and I don't have any abnormal cells, so it's not bad, but my gyno does regular STD
screenings in the pap smears.

Isn't it only for certain types of HPV? The ones that most often cause cancer?

Yeah, your situation sucks.
But you have to keep in mind the shot only protects you from certain kinds of HPV. |

Yeah, there's 130 kinds of HPV, the vaccine is only for 4 of them.

To be fair, HPV shots only protect against 4 types of HPV; so you can't say it was defective.
I'm sorry that you have to go through this though. |

I know, I just read it now.
It's ok. Thanks. My boyfriend was more worried about me then him. |

That's like saying the flu shot is defective. It's very effective against the most common strain that year, but considering the number of strains is
constantly changing...There's no way to protect you against each strain.
That being said, it sucks that you're going through this. But at least your cells are still normal. |

Ducky Luv wrote:Yea, so I guess that they caught it early. I was reading about it, and it seems like I'll be fine. My friend had it too, but she had abnormal cells and had to have a procedure where she went to the hospital and was like out of commission for days. But the doctor says that if we "burn off" this part of it now or whatever they do that I should be ok and that I shouldn't worry. |

I read that it's a FACT that you can get some strains of HPV by at least 50% is you had more than 1 partner in life? (cancerous or noncancerous)

I'm sorry but why do people assume that anyone with an STD is a slut, or a whore? It only takes one person to infect you with an STD, so if you don't
test (which MANY couples do not do), then you run the risk even with one person.
STD's are becoming more common every day. Sorry, but your OP made me think of this. |

Yea apparently it's really common. A bunch of my friends have had it.
I mean, its not the worst thing that I could have. And now my parents definitely know that I've had sex. My mom is insisting that she comes with me to the doctor for the procedure for
"support." I'm like please leave me alone, you don't have to come. But she won't let it go.

HPV infection. Approximately 20 million Americans are currently infected with HPV, and another 6.2 million people become newly infected each year. At least 50% of sexually active men and women acquire genital HPV infection at some point in their lives. What did the doctor tell you about the procedure? This post is making me think I should be tested. |
