Marion Cotillard On The Complex Secrets Of Christopher Nolan's 'Inception'
Everything sounds better with a French accent. That's just a fact, and it's something Movies Editor Josh Horowitz learned anew while chatting with Marion Cotillard about her upcoming Christopher Nolan film, "Inception." No matter that the Parisian actress wouldn't give up the juicy inside facts-partly because she didn't know, partly because declined to say-about the secretive film that we crave here at MTV News. No matter that all she'd tell us about the plot is that it's "about the mind." No matter that she teased Josh at one point, "So you want to have information-I can see you!" Cotillard simply sounds so sweetly agreeable when she's speaking, it's hard to complain. We did manage to learn that the majority of her scenes will be alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, who is set to play her husband. We did learn the movie itself is chockfull of action sequences. And she did go into detail about her first reaction upon reading the script for the film, which also co-stars Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Michael Caine. "[Nolan] is so interesting," she said, while promoting "Public Enemies," her Johnny Depp-starring gangster flick. "He writes his own scripts. He seems to be, from what I saw and what I read, so rich inside. He's got so many things to say and share and he's a very, very smart guy. You really can feel it in his writing." |

Posted up from team guillon
She talked once again about Guillaume and about having babies. On posing with Guillaume for the first time : "C'est vrai que jusqu'à présent, nous n'avions jamais posé ensemble, même aux Oscars. Mais c'est ridicule de ne pas arriver ensemble quand on va au même endroit ! [...] Nous sommes assez tranquilles et nous faisons en sorte que notre vie privée soit respectée. Mais en même temps, je sais que je ne pourrais pas échapper indéfiniment aux questions. D'autant qu'il va me diriger dans son troisième film." "It is true that until then, we had never posed together, even at the Oscars. But it is ridiculous not to arrive together when we go to the same place! [...] We are rather quiet and we make so that our private life is respected. But at the same time, I know that I won't be able to escape the questions indefinitely. All the more because he will direct me in his third film." On what could fulfill her : "Que peut-on lui souhaiter de plus ? "A moi, rien. Je suis comblée" répond-elle simplement. Et pourtant, un petit quelque chose pourrait parfaire son bonheur : "Je veux des enfants. J'en ai envie et j'y pense." "What can we wish her ? "Me, nothing. I am fulfilled" answers she simply. And yet, a small something could perfect her happiness: "I want children. I want them and I think about it." On Love : "Le fait d'être aimée et d'aimer change tout" "Being loved and being in love change everything" |

The movie got a rave review in the French Studio magazine, the 3 reviewers gave it 5 out 5.
About Marion they said, Marion eat the screen with her talent with only one look, one move she transcribe all the sentiments of the world. something like that.

Here's what Jeffrey Wells, a Hollywood reporter, had to say about Marion's performance in Public Enemies (http://hollywood-elsewher...2009/06/she_kills_1.php)
However Michael Mann's Public Enemies winds up faring commercially and critically, Marion Cotillard's performance as Billie Frechette, the girlfriend of Johnny Depp's John Dillinger, is an award-quality nail-down. No dramatic actress in recent memory has conveyed as much intestinal steel, and it's all in her eyes. In each of her scenes they have a straight-from-the-shoulder, no b.s. quality. Every time you look at those watery French peepers and think, "God she's beautiful," a subsequent thought happens a split second later: "Man, she's tough." Even when Cotillard visibly melts at the end when Stephen Lang's G-man character delivers the final line (in what is easily the most moving scene), she does so with remarkable subtlety, like a survivor, like a woman who knows from dignity. I came to this thought after reading Mark Harris's 6.28 N.Y. Times profile of Mann and the film, and particularly by this passage about Cotillard: "[Mann's] movies are known for many things, from technological virtuosity to narrative complexity, but prominent roles for women are not among his trademarks. The character of Billie Frechette is something of an exception. Several American actresses wanted the part; Ms. Cotillard won it even though her English was less than rock steady. 'But she's ferocious,' Mr. Mann said. 'She's so focused and artistically ambitious that you knew that come hell or high water she was going to get there.'" In short, Cotillard looks to me like a lock for Best Supporting Actress contention. |

Those are some great reviews. Everyone I've talked to who have seen the movie said the ending was really really great!! Best Supporting, thats awesome! Between this and Nine, I think both might end up getting nominations for Best Picture now that they gone and
