I think John Mayer summed it up for me when he said a strand of our cultural DNA is missing, and that we mourn his loss along with the loss of our childhood
memories of listening to him. Sure, Michael hasn't made an album in a while, but for someone who's been aware of Michael Jackson their entire lives,
it's a sad thing to come to terms with. It's not just a career that I've connected with, he's an icon of basically my 25 years in the world, so
it definitely is a personal loss.
I'm okay today, and I'll listen to his music for a while and move on with my life, but I did cry a lot yesterday, and I don't think anyone should be questioned if they had trouble sleeping. That doesn't mean they're unaware or untroubled by all the other bad things in the world, it just proves that Michael Jackson meant a lot to a lot of people. If he didn't mean that to you, that's fine, but having people defend their feelings is pretty insensitive. |

I don't think you should compare 9/11 or the Holocaust to the death of Michael Jackson. I find THAT to be much more insensitive than anything I've

I'm pretty sure they weren't comparing the circumstances of the deaths but rather how you can mourn the loss of someone you never met and never knew
personally. Lets be real now.

A human being is a human being so I don't understand why they are different, they were ALL tragic weren't they? Michael WAS a human being as far as I
know, and from what everyone says he had one of the biggest hearts ever and was very kind to everyone. Yes he was a celebrity but does that mean they
aren't important when they die?
Also many of those who are mourning him most of them grew up with Michael, we saw him with Jackson 5 and grew up seeing him going solo and becoming an amazing singer and artist, thats another reason why this has hit some people harder then others. |
