My mother said it was like this when Elvis died. Michael was our generations Elvis.
I don't think there will be another music death this popular until Madonna or Prince dies. And I'm not so sure if it will be this big when Prince dies. But I'm pretty sure Madonna will shut down all the channels just like MJ did. Madonna seems to take better care of herself, so hopefully she'll be a little old lady and die of natural causes. |

I think his death is on par with how people felt when Elvis and Princess Di died.

SShanique wrote: Most retarded quote ever. How can you say Elvis DIDN'T have longevity? He pretty much owned 50s-70s, just like MJ did the 80s. Just because YOU were not around to see it, doesn't mean it didn't go down. Ask some older folks how it was when Elvis died. They didn't even have mtv then. Elvis was all over local news taking over abc, cbs, and nbc. Not just MTV and BET like MJ. And hell, people STILL claim to see Elvis. People still pay to just walk through his old house. I would check yourself before making another statement like that because Elvis even influenced MJ. |

Diana was on a whole different level. The entire world mourned that woman. People didn't go to work the next day because of it. Some colleges were
released. The world practically stopped moving for about two days.
Not happening with MJ, didn't happen with Elvis. They are musicians, and we love them, but no where near Princess Diana status. The world isn't going to stop function for him. |

I don't know that MJ will be remembered as Elvis still is. We hadn't really seen anything about him in the news for the last few years or so. Elvis, on
the other had, still gains fans, people still flock to his home, and his estate still pulls in millions, and he's been dead for 32 years. While MJ was a
sensation and true talent, Elvis rewired the music industry and brought a broader sound to the masses, when his sound wasn't deemed appropriate for white
teens to listen to.
Time will tell. |

Something else that made Elvis so sad was how they immediately reported that Lisa Marie found him dead. She was like 8 or 9 years old. And everyone loved Lisa
Marie back then. She was the peoples daughter. From the moment she was born she was a star. And the media coming out and saying that that poor little girl
found her daddy dead just made it all the more heartbreaking.
Thank God MJs kids most likely weren't even with him at the time. Since nowadays celebs depend on nanny's and what not to raise their kids. |
