I feel so sorry for him, it sounds like he was really excited about getting back onstage again. At least he got to see through selling out those 50 shows that no matter what the media said about him and the allegations, his fans still loved him and wanted more. So so sad. Those home movies were adorable. He was such a great talent and a great man.

It's crazy because just a week or two ago me and my brother were talking about music in general is not the same anymore. The music he made was classic and timeless. You could hear his songs today and still get people smiling and running to the dancefloor. We were talking about how we needed to get the cd versions of Michael's albums, because we want our children to one day hear his music. Michael Jackson was one of the first artists I recall even listening to. In fact, I'm 24 so I wasn't alive during Thriller or Off the Wall and only a baby when Bad came out. However, I just remember those albums still being such a huge part of my childhood. I remember watching Moonwalker, watching his Bad concert on tv, and dancing in the living room to his records. No one can ever do what he has done. I mean 750 million albums...that's unbelievable. Even though he did go through his own personal trials, his music will always be the at the forefront for me. But what really breaks my heart is that he was one of the biggest and most influential artists ever, yet he was still lonely and never really had the chance to grow up. His music definitely will live on forever.

Everyone knows what he's done but I have to get it to the rest of the anchors they really looked like they felt uncomfortable with the way she was talking. I used to respect MSNBC but if they keep putting this shit on I think I will have to rethink it. Ffs the man just died let him rest in peace.

Both Amazon and HMV have reported strong sales surges for Jackson's work, with his albums taking 14 of the top 20 places on the Amazon.co.uk sales chart. On Friday morning the Amazon chart was topped by his first solo album, Off The Wall, which features tracks such as Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough and She's Out Of My Life. It was followed by his 1987 album Bad and in third position was Thriller, thought to be the biggest selling album of all time. Invincible, Jackson's most recent studio album, was at nine, demonstrating that his older recordings hold a stronger appeal than his more recent work. Music retailer HMV has reported a 500 per cent rise in sales of Jackson's classics such as Thriller and Bad. Gennaro Castaldo of HMV said: "The fans are reacting in the only way they know how - by buying his records. It is them expressing their love for him and their grief. "Come this weekend, we are certainly going to see some Michael Jackson in the album charts, and it would not surprise me if he dominates the singles charts. "It is very sad that we have lost Michael. His death has secured his musical legacy and I think people will remember him for his music and his reputation as an entertainer. "He was on the verge of an incredible comeback and this is just sad he has been denied that opportunity. It is going to leave a big hole in all our lives." He added: "We always find where a great icon dies that there's a massive uplift in their music sales as fans want to connect and express their grief through the records."

The video "Bad" came on and my husband was watching with my daughter. For those of you that know that song, he repeats the phrase "I'm bad" over and over. By the end of the video, my 5 yo daughter turned to my husband and asked "is he bad?"

TMZ.com, the celebrity news website that broke the story, went down several times through the day as visitors flooded the site. Other sites, such as Perez Hilton's popular gossip blog, also failed as people rushed to try to confirm the news. The microblogging service Twitter also shut down temporarily, with the site receiving hundreds of thousands of tweets shortly after the King of Pop's death was first reported. Twitter struggled to deal with the deluge of messages, with its founder Biz Stone saying: "This particular news about the passing of such a global icon is the biggest jump in tweets per second since the U.S. presidential election.
