Another one that got me was Sergei Grinkov, the Russian figure skater. I was really into figure skating and it really shocked me that he had a heart attack so young. He and Katia were amazing together, on and off the ice. I hope I have someone look at me the way he looked at her. |

I remember feeling really sad when Selena, Diana, and Aaliyah passed away. They were all such awful untimely deaths.
I remember the little girl in me and feeling really sad when Brad Renfro died. He could have done so many things if he would have got over his addiction. And of course, MJ. He was always the butt of jokes but when it came down to it, he was our generations Elvis with the popularity and trends that he started. Everyone knows who MJ is. Whether you like him or not, you know who he is. You know his voice, his songs, his face. Hell, I remember his picture being in my Highschool sociology class as an example of for something. I don't remember what it was about...but I know there was a picture of MJ. LOL |

I don't really "mourn" celebs but the first one I was aware of the significance of the event historically was when Elvis died. I wasn't too
old, but I remember my mother out of control crying.

I remember when Princess Diana passed away and I remember what a sad time that was. However, I feel like I was still pretty young at that time.
I distinctly remember being very upset when Aaliyah passed away. I cried a lot. |

Aaliyah -- I followed that girl's career from the very beginning and I just loved her! I still think of her when her death anniversary rolls around, which
is pretty soon now.
I was also very upset about Left Eye. TLC is (still) my #1 favorite girl group of all time and it's devastating that I'll never see them perform together again. |

I remember crying when Dale Earnhardt died...I was pretty young though, it may have been cause everyone else in the car was crying (we were on our way home
from the circus)
JFK Jr and Diana both upset me, but I was young enough that I didn't really know a lot about them, I just remember my mom being upset. I think John Ritter and Heath Ledger were the first ones that really hit me. |
