Please don't make fun but I never had a credit card before and I am going to be applying for one. Which do you choose when you apply for one?

Why don't you talk to someone at the bank?

If you're planning on paying off your entire bill every month, it doesn't really matter. Otherwise, find a card with low interest. If you plan on using
it a lot, you might want to consider a card that gives you rewards back or earn airline miles or something. (Some of these cards might have an annual fee
though, so don't forget to check for that as well.)

I have one from Bank Of America and I get a point for every dollar I spend. The points can be redeemed for cash, electronics, gadgets, gift certificates, etc. I LOVE it. No annual fee. My interest is a little high but I never have a high balance on it. |

Don't get one unless you plan on paying more than minimum payment or the whole balance.

Not to burst your bubble, but it's not the most likely thing that you will get approved for just any card you choose to apply for. You said you have great
credit, but you don't have any credit (unless you have a car payment in there somewhere that you didn't mention). None of the payments you make that
you listed go on your credit or help you establish credit. The only time they even enter your credit report is if you default on them. So like I said, you have
zero credit at the moment and most places won't approve you. You will have to start out with something like a store credit card (Target, Express, etc) if
you can get approved there, otherwise your next best bet will be citicards.

My credit is good, and always paid my bills. Blah. LOL.. But thank you for this info I dunno what store I would get one from, I do not shop at Target
much, and really do not want a Walmart card.. this sucks lol

Don't feel bad Sweetie! I don't have a credit or debit card. Outside of a gas card.

I only have a debit card LOL..
Also if I spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars at Amazon will I be approved their easier then those other cards I signed up for? I just don't understand how this all works, I mean if they check your credit and see you are responsible you should be approved IMHO. |

Sweetie1384 wrote:Cell phone bills don't go on your credit (in terms of helping you establish it), and I'm not sure what working for the state has to do with anything haha. But yes, you will need a beginner card because you don't have credit. I know you keep saying you have good credit, but...you don't have any, so that doesn't equal good credit lol. But try citicards...they have "beginner" cards which aren't any different from other regular cards...they just approve people easier. You don't necessarily have to get a Target card or something like that. I would only go for the store cards if you dont get approved with citi, or I think someone said US Bank? I'm not familiar with them but they might also be more lenient on approving beginner people. |

Okay for the US bank one, Lol, do I have to join their bank or is that just the cards name? I am sorry I just new at this. I really do not want to join another
bank though. Thanks for all the suggestions but who knows maybe I will get approved!
Well my friend once said if I had a steady and stable job longer then a few months I might get approved , I dunno.. and they would see my income and my bills wouldn't they , when they check my credit? This is weird how the heck can you get credit if no one wants to give you a card LOL except places you don't use or go to much! Thanks again though, I am going to look up the Citi cards now.. and see what they say!

Just be careful not to apply for too many credit cards at one time. It reflects poorly on your credit score. Research the ones you have the best chance of
getting approved for and apply only to those.

What if you're new to the country, how do you get approved for a credit card, because you basically have zero credit.

Sweetie1384 wrote:Haha no, you don't have to join their bank (at least I don't think so - I'm not too familiar with US Bank). But yeah, check out citicards. I got my first card through them when I was 18 (it was a college promotion type offer). If you have any questions, feel free to ask It's just
good to know going into things that you may not get approved for everything, it just takes time. But you sound responsible and all that so I'm sure
you'll build good credit in no time
