My parents just did it to book a hotel in NYC when they come visit me. My mom said that if you try to lowball it too much (like $5) it will eventually lock you
out for a while.

I got a good hotel and air deal once. Thankfully I was flexible about the airline, but I did get a 5 star hotel for $50.00 a night.

I use it pretty often and Ive gotten a lot of good deals. There is a site www.biddingfortravel.com its a message board where people go to post bids they have
received and what hotels normally win.

I use biddingfortravel.com also and I have had some success with Priceline. The best was a 4 Star in LA for $50.
