I don't understand these parents who let their kids be on reality shows like NYC Prep or Laguna Beach. I wouldn't want a camera following my kid around
catching everything they do. I think it has to warp them somehow.

I think it would have to depend on what the show was for. If it only served to give them a sense of self-importance and superiority (aka, the shows you
listed), then that would be a big fat no. I won't raise a non-brat only to have a show turn them into one.
If it was more a documentary of something, then that would be different. |

Watching NYC made me sad for those kids. Their parents should be ashamed of themselves.

Depends on the topic. True Life did an episode on a young girl who moved with her entire family to another country, and it documented how she adjusted to life,
made friends, joined activities, etc. She was so cute and intelligent. I'd like my child do that kind of the show, but a show about spoiled kids? No.
Absolutely not.

Oh hell, why not. It would depend on the show though. It could be a fun experience for them.

Some of my friends parents would go on a cruise for a month and leave their teenage daughters by themselves the entire time. Oh, but they would leave them an ample supply of alcohol so they could have parties. |
