Seriously, yes, if I was in pain I'd tell my fam to pull the plug on me. I don't if I could physically do it to someone, but if that was their wishes I suppose I'd want them to be fulfilled.
Do you believe in euthanasia?

I know this is a serious question, but I keep thinking about Pineapple Express. "Man I could talk all day about euthanasia."

I dont see why people would be against it - it doesn't really effect anyone else. If someone wants to die - then they should have that right. As long as
they're over 18 and consent, go for it. [as for those under 18, idk.. i guess thats a parent and child decision idfc]

I think once someone is at the point where there is no expectation of life and pain medication is no longer keeping them comfortable then they should have a
choice. I think it is cruel when someone has no chance of living and the doctors have stopped trying but they have to suffer in pain and be miserable until
everything shuts down.
My grandfather spent the last days of his life in horrible pain and no one could do anything for him . They said that increasing his pain meds could cause respiratory problems. To
me that would have been an easier death. If I know for 100% I am going in a few days or hours I would like the choice to go peacefully.

I wrote an essay on this in high school in favor of it when people are in pain. 12 years later I still feel the same way.

After watching my grandfather dying from cancer...yes. The last week was just horrible. Sometimes I feel like I helped him go. The hospice doc gave me orders
to give morphine as often as I felt he needed it the last night. At that point it was all I could do. He couldn't breathe. Couldn't swallow. It was the
the worst 24 hours of my life.

When it comes down to it, no I don't. But that's probably because I don't believe in an afterlife, so I think I'd rather be suffering but still
alive, than dead.

Yes, I do. That's a personal decision. Would I do it? I'm not sure. But it's not my job to control what other people want to do with their lives.
After watching "Right to Die?" I definitely have a more compassionate view regarding euthanasia. The guy in the documentary was suffering from motor neuron disease, where his mind was perfectly fine but his body was degenerating to the point that he could no longer walk, talk, swallow, or even breathe on his own. It's not fair to force someone to live like that. |

I'm ok with passive euthanasia (withholding treatment or giving injections of morphine, etc.) but less ok with assisted suicide. I just don't think the
role of a physician should ever be to kill someone.
