Twice now I have tracked a package and the page will say that the package was delivered with delivery confirmation when it wasn't. Then I call the post office and the package magically appears at my door after I get off the phone and the post office claims it isn't because they had it and sent it out. They say it must have been a mistake in the status. Well now I have a package that says it was delivered last week with delivery confirmation and I don't have it. I called them and they're finally returning a call I made days ago but they have the nerve to sound all irritated as if it is my fault. Perhaps both of us should be irritated since they have to go through the trouble of finding out what happened but they shouldn't be mad at me about it. We were home for deliveries and even if we hadn't been they're supposed to leave a notice so that I can at least go and pick up my stuff. I also had to have a pretty important package sent out by a company again because it was never delivered and right now I am tracking something that was in my city 2 days ago but the status hasn't been updated since then. I find it really hard to believe that ALL of my packages are having trouble making it to my home right after I reported my mail man for marking things delivered when he never dropped them off. Since this started happening I've stopped using USPS when I can but some things I get from companies that only use USPS so I don't know what to do.

This is because the main mail truck comes with mail around 11:00AM every day....but, mail is sorted first thing in the morning (8:00AM). So, if a package were to arrive at 11:00AM on June 24th, I wouldn't actually get it until June 25th (because, that's when it would be sorted). In addition, it would say "DELIVERED to nameofmytown, MN at 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 24th."

If you don't get results (but you should) call the regional office. The delivery person is scanning them delivered because they don't want to deliver but they have to scan it or else their scanner will show a discrepancy. Which gets them in trouble. They are lazy. They are probably just scanning them delivered and then throwing them to the clerks at the window. If you dont get a notice though you dont know that it is at the window. If you explain it to the Postmaster they are going to know what is going on and know what to look for.

It is gone. The other package which was actually expensive didn't have delivery confirmation so the company had to send me another one. It should have been delivered by the 16th. All of my packages are probably gone.

IF the PO wants to maintain that your packages were in fact already delivered to your door let the Postmaster know that you want to file a complaint of mail theft. It is one of two things. Either your mail was never delivered and it is a carrier problem (which they need to deal with, like it or not ) OR your mail was delivered and it is being stolen on a regular basis which they need to have Postal Inspectors investigate. Doing nothing is not even an option when you have this many packages disappearing in a small time frame. Also get a PO box. Is it a pain? Yes but it sounds like you get a lot of packages and it is a bigger pain to pay for stuff and not get it. Plus in this situation your mail might be the next thing to start disappearing. Whoever you talk to though should know that you have a history of not receiving packages, not receiving a notice and then (after calling the PO) the package showing up at your door. Even though it was scanned as delivered days before. As a former USPS mail carrier that sends up red flags as to what the problem probably is.

I always would ring the doorbell though and placed it where it could not be seen unless you were right at the door. If you are concerned you can request that the post office not deliver your package. They will leave you a notice and you can pick it up at PO. That is what I do between November and January 1st since I know that is the #1 time for mail theft and when I order a lot of expensive items online.
