I've had my cat since she was 8 weeks old (she's 4 now). She has cost me SO much money in vet bills because she has a
skin allergy that requires bloodwork done every six months and steroid shots/pills. As broke as I am/have been, it still hasn't been enough to make me not
want her anymore. BUT, she has been peeing on my carpet for months now, and I am seriously at my wit's end.
The vet said she doesn't have a UTI or anything, so I know it's behavioral. And I feel I have done everything: I have an automatic litter box, and I maintain the other two boxes and clean them daily. I changed out the litter type months ago when she first started doing it. I've bought expensive enzyme cleaners to clean the places she has peed on. All of this to no avail. I can't tell you how much time and energy I spend daily to ensure that my apartment doesn't smell like cat pee. When I go out of town for a few days and come back and smell my place, I realize then what a difference what I do does.
Anyway, I'm moving into a brand new apartment (like brand, brand new-- as in, it's still being built... and I can't blame stains and such on a previous occupant because I'll be the first one to live there) in about a month, and I'm scared she's going to piss all on the carpet and ruin it. Should I give her away? My heart of course says no, but I don't know how much more of this I can take.
