I just heard about this yesterday. Has anyone tried it, was the person you worked with helpful?

I saw someone with a "personal shopper" at MACYS the other day. Not even a nice Macys. The lady was following her around picking out outfits and
taking them to the dressing room for her, explaining what looked best with what and why... I was like wtf its Macys, you're the only employee in the
department, and I need to pay for my stuff! Stop errand running for this girl!

ohh, they have them at Macy's too?
I mentioned how I needed a new wardrobe and that I just needed a makeover in general, and someone suggested I get a personal shopper. I always imagined them to be expensive, but I was told some of them just work on commission. |

Quite a few department stores offer this service free of charge to customers.

I just shop with a friend and we try on lots of clothes and figure out what works and what doesn't.

My mom wanted me to do it so she made an appointment with one at Macy's in order to help me find interview outfits/work clothes. We didn't pay anything
for the service (like someone mentioned, it was based on commission). My mom had given her the info beforehand (i.e. what type of look I was going for, what
size, etc) so when I got there, everything was already laid out for me. Oh and I went into the "special" dressing area which was much nicer than
regular ones.

I'm guessing they pick out the most expensive outfits?
