Like do you make it clear in those kind of situations that you're taken? Back story that prompted this question... so my friend told me about a girl he likes that he also found out (after making out with her) that she has a bf. Ok, yeah she was drunk at the time but still... the girl not only made out with him that night, but another guy. Her coworkers had to remind her that she had a bf when she was making out with my friend. I don't know this girl, but I wonder if she's leading my friend on? He's apparently known her for awhile but she's never once mentioned a bf. She even asked him if she could stay over at his place at the beginning of the night. Maybe she just started seeing her bf and they're not serious yet? Is it normal for girls (and guys) to not mention they have a bf ever? Because I hear stories like this a lot... the person doesn't find out that the other has a significant other until things have gone too far and feelings have developed and all that. He needs to walkaway from the situation until she gets rid of him. Otherwise, he's going to be just as guilty as she is. And she made out with another guy on the SAME night as your friend? Sounds like a winner. I'm sure he could do much better. I mean, it can't be that hard to find someone a notch higher on the classy poll.

He even invited her to a wedding as his date and she accepted. (this was way before this incident though.) And as far as he knows, she's still going with him. And she made out with another guy on the SAME night as your friend? Sounds like a winner. I'm sure he could do much better. I mean, it can't be that hard to find someone a notch higher on the classy poll. I know, right? He even saw it and as he told me "was heartbroken". He still likes her though apparently. But in general though, I've heard this from lots of people (both my girl and guy friends have mentioned this). Like they'll spend the night flirting with a girl (or guy) and the person goes along with it but never mentions having a significant other.

In general, I try not to mention it immediately like, "my name's Michele, I'm taken!" But there are ways to drop it in when you can sense that the person is seriously hitting on you. Like, "oh my boyfriend really likes that beer, too!" or something less lame.

So basically you are asking people in a committed relationship if it is "normal" to cheat or be so unhappy you want to cheat? The reason I say that is because normal, healthy relationships don't ever have these issues.

I don't see anything wrong with talking, but if it gets to the point where they are clearly trying to hook up or asking for my number or something, I will say I have a boyfriend. Obviously if the girl is OK with cheating she doesn't care all that much if she is messing with someone's feelings, so I guess that's why she didn't mention it.

You can flirt without mentioning you're in a relationship. It's just knowing when the flirting is going to far and putting a stop to it. Most people like to flirt, single or taken.

The second a guy starts talking to them they're lik "I have a boyfriend!" and act all annoyed. It's like...get over yourself. If the guy clearly starts to hit on you and/or ask for your number, then yeah, mention it. But just because a guy is talking to you doesn't mean he automatically wants you. Most of the time it will mean that, but sometimes people just like to make conversation when they're out at places like a bar.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about. I'm not saying you need to include "I have a bf" in your introduction or anything, but there are still ways to let the other person know. Makes me nervous as hell though, since I'm constantly hearing stories about people cheating or not mentioning they have a gf when they do. It's like, you can't trust anyone.

That was the main point I wanted to discuss and not my friend's particular situation. I've been out and seen some girls who are just so obnoxious about it. But I'm talking specifically about situations when a person is openly flirting and is definitely showing interest.
