My step father got a phone call. Ma however gets all kinds of goodies. Moms are just better.

Because most dads don't give a shit.

Because most fathers don't deserve it, including mine.

Yeah, mainly most dad's don't care as much. My dad is perfectly happy with just getting told "happy father's day" and maybe a card or
whatever. He always gets mad if we spend anything on him. Especially if its a lot. Currently in another state from him, so I just gave him a call and talked
with him for a bit.

I don't think saying "most" dad's are shit isn't fair.
Edit: Fuck, I mean ISN'T fair.

I was raised by a single mother who sometimes had to work two jobs to support my sisters & I and help us get through college. Even when dad was alive, he was barely in the picture..so my mom has always been the only real parent I've had. I have friends who are single mothers and I give praise to them. |

My dad is great. We all went to brunch and we're going to visit with my grandfather in a bit. |

In this house Fathers Day is a second Mothers Day. |

joey is a teapot wrote:I think this is partly true. Mothers, myself included, tend to get very upset when Mother's Day is forgotten. For some of the fathers I know (i.e. my ex husband, neighbor and friend's dads) they just appreciate it if no one makes a comment about them being on the golf course half the day for a change. |

I dislike both Father's Day and Mother's Day. I'm not sure why because I love both my parents very much. I guess it's because my mom always
forced me to be all perky and say Happy Mother's/Father's day to EVERYONE who had a kid. So fucking annoying.

I wish my dad was alive today so I can celebrate with him. He was an amazing dad(for me and my siblings), uncle, cousin and brother to my other family
wonderful husband to my mom. This is my first Father's Day without him.
On the other hand... My brother is an awesome dad to my nephew. He takes him to school every weekday and fix his meals. and This is my husband's first Father's Day as a dad...he's awesome.

Whatever, my dad is the best guy around, and I'm lucky to be his daughter. He's kind, generous and incredibly hip and funny.

I think it's shitty to make the generalization that most dads are bad fathers, etc. Everyone's family is different. My father's reason for living
is my brother and I. Even that being said, I think Mother and Father's Days are pretty much Hallmark holidays and we don't make a big deal about them.

We celebrated today. Had a big family BBQ, went swimming, had fun. That's more than I did for Mother's Day.

My dad's an asshole. I didn't call him today, but he probably doesn't even know it's fathers day.

JayneOC wrote: This. Even in households where the father is present and active in the children's lives, I think the majority of child-rearing is done by the mother, even if the difference in effort is as slight as 51% mother, 49% father. The only times I've personally seen it where the father did more child-rearing than the mother was during extreme circumstances, such as the mother had passed away or the mother was ill or the mother was up to no good (e.g. drugs, alcohol, in jail, etc.). Happy Father's Day to all the daddy NikeTalkers/JJBers and Happy Father's Day to all of the JJBer ladies who are celebrating it with their fathers and husbands/boyfriends!
