I am teaching a six week summer school program to at risk inner city youth. They are doing a huge lit/science project in which they become an expert on a
marine animal. I don't know of any local aquariums but I'm trying to find some websites, or organizations that have free things I can use in the room.
(Mostly for decoration or information, not assignments.) I lived in Orlando forever and I am so used to having Sea World in my back yard. PA stinks. lol

Maybe take a ride to the beach (is the Jersey Shore far?) and get seashells, jars of sand, etc. You could go to the fishing docks and ask if anyone has an old
net or bouys - maybe even a tackle shop. Maybe you could call Sea Word and tell them what you're doing and see if they have some sort of packets or posters
to send you. I would call a lot of aquariums actually.
You could get creative with construction paper and make bird silhouettes, the sun, waves, etc. Also many stores sell starfish decorations and shell stuff- even dolalr stores so put everyone you know on the lookout. You could get a little fish too- like a cheapo goldfish. Good luck! |
