Just how bad is it? Like, when does it start to get bad and when does it start to clear during the weekdays?

I dunno about when it starts but I dont usually even consider trying to drive towards or anywhere near LA until at least 7pm on week days

It honestly really depends on where you are and where you're going. Sometimes during rush hour it moves fast, and sometimes during the middle of the day
you'll find yourself in random traffic jams.

Hmm... ok. There are some things I want to check out, and google maps told me it takes 33 min normally but might take up to an hour and a half during traffic
times and I'm like, whoa... wonder how late I should leave to avoid that.

Where are trying to get to? I drive avout 30 miles a day, so I can tell you what days it should take you longer than most and at what times.

I'll be coming from El Segundo to Whittier? Not sure if that helps at all.

Yeah, a destination and direction traveling is important to know.
For example, I'm almost always going against traffic, and my commute times are negligible. If I wanted to go the same direction three hours later, it would take four times as long. |

My co-worker did that drive daily (he takes the Metro now) and he said to take the 105 to the 605 and it should be about an hour and half (on a no rain, no
huge accidents, etc.).

It looks like the 405 right by the Getty. Kinda looks like the train station next to the Getty.

I drove out of LA last February, on a weekday, at 6:30 pm and didn't see bad traffic anywhere!! Traffic was just like everywhere I have been |

Can you tell I've been stuck in it? One time I thought it was a good idea to take the 405 instead of the 101 to the Valley. Here's another picture. Gotta love Los Angeles.

If you want the truly unique Los Angeles Experience, get on the 405 about 4:30 p.m.
You are welcome. |

What time would you be driving that route and what day. I actually live in Whittier right now and work in West LA. On Mondays I can get home in about 45 mins
to an hour and that's really good. Thursday or Fridays at the same time and its about an hour and a half. Also, where are you going in Whitter? I'm
just curious about that.

The 405 between the 10 and Santa Monica Blvd is one step above hell, I think.

Ok, that first pic posted of the 405 is SO photoshopped. The traffic is real (I used to drive that stretch every.single.day), but they made it twice as wide in
that as it is.
That said, there is usually traffic all day long. But the hours when it's the worst is about 6am-10am and then again from about 3pm-7 or 8pm. Avoid any and all freeways during those times. I would avoid side streets too It actually might be wrose now. I lived in L.A. my entire life up until last year. Every year traffic seemed to get worse. So I don't know! |
