You can take that arguement all the way to how is yelling at your child not abuse, how is getting into a fight with your spouse in front of your child not "abusive" in some way to your child...etc. Forms of punishment, even spanking are not abuse in the sense of REAL abuse, abuse can be any form of punishment that is continuous with malicious intent where no care for the child ever comes into play before during or after the form of punishment. A spanking is not necessarily done with malicious uncaring intent, that is also not followed up with by other actions through out the child's life that convey a loving parent-child relationship. I can't understand the arguement spanking is horrible and doesn't work as punishment 100% of the time when you have people on here admiting spanking didn't do any harm "abuse" would do to a child, it was a decent form of punishment that got the replier to stop what they were doing, and are fine with the issue.
