Not very often. My fiance and I both work on weekends.

Normally, we see each other every weekend, sometimes long weekends. We've been together a lot the last few months for the stanley cup playoff games, and
we're going on vacation in a few weeks. When stuff like this comes up, we'll go a few weeks in a row afterward without seeing each other because
he's busy with work.

When we were 2.5 hours apart we usually saw each other every other weekend. Now we're 8-9 hours apart and we usually meet at the halfway point about once a
month.

This sucks already
We're 3 hours apart and already having trouble finding times to visit each other.

The good part is, the times you do spend together are that much more special.
Like, before last weekend, I hadn't seen my fiance in more than a month. We had an incredible weekend!!
Don't give up. True love conquers all obstacles. |

I think the type of person you are plays a role too. Too much togetherness makes me want to run away.

I'm just feeling so overwhelmed. We've been long distance for two summers before, but now we face two years apart. I told myself I would take it one
step (day/visit) at a time but I just keep thinking "well I start work in July, and then we'll only ever have the weekends" and blah blah.
Ughhhhh I'm so stresssssssssssssseddddddd.

If you are the clingy possessive type who needs a lot of attention, LD relationships are not for you. They require patience and trust.

I've been in three long distance relationships in a row! So for the past three years I've been doing it.
But my fiance and I lived 10 hours apart and we'd see each other once a month taking turns on going to see the other. Now he's deployed and I wont see him until November. Just hang in there and if both of you make each other a priority then everything will work out fine. Staying busy helps a lot to pass the time when you guys can't be together. |

It's not about that at all. I think it just finally hit me today how long two years is, and how difficult this will be. I'm not even working yet, and
already it will be a month before seeing each other.... I don't know any person, clingy or not, who wants to go a month or longer without seeing their S/O

Well, we're pretty long distance. I'm in FL and he's in NYC. We see each other about every six or so weeks. But back in Feb. he came to visit, then
he came again a few weeks after that and stayed for a month.
Right now it really really sucks. He's in Europe until the first week of July, then his dad is visiting him and I won't be able to see him until the end of July. Which will make it almost three months. It's really hard, I won't lie. But you do what you have to do... |

You don't want to be separated. Sometimes it is just necessary. Like I go to school one place and he goes to school a different place.
But in exactly 54 weeks, we were never be apart again.

My now-husband and I dated for 8 months long distance (4 hour plane ride long distance). We took turns flying about every 4 or 5 weeks until I finally decided
to move. I found out early on that as long as we both had positive attitudes (at least most of the time), it was bearable. For a while, anyway...
