My question is, should I get a basic starter kit AND the eyes/cheek/lip starter kit? Or just the first (even though it doesn't come with a "blush")? I do like to put on a bit more every once in awhile, but I didn't know if the two were a bit redundant?

I'm a really non-fussy make-up kinda gal, but I'm pretty fair and look dead if I go make-up free every day. Most stuff is too heavy for my complexion,
and I don't care enough to try everything until I find that perfect blend for me, so I'm thisclose to going the Bare Essentials route.

Okay, what do both kits include and what is the price difference? I have the blush and to me it's just like any loose powder blush.

Dude, you should DEFINITELY get the limited edition one because the brushes are the shit and the Warmth and Mineral Veil are a must-have. The shadows and
blushes are so average IMO, but get a few more opinions before making your decision I guess.

I'd start with the Getting Started kit and see if you like the foundation before you buy the eyes, cheeks, lips kit. You can always use other blushes with
the foundation at first, or just buy a pot of "Glee" all over face cover and use that as blush, which is what I use as blush 99% of the time.

Just get the normal basic kit. You mentioned that you're not a fussy makeup person, so a lot of the eye/cheeks/lips stuff will probably not be of much use
to you. See how you like the regular all-over-face makeup first.
I LOVE Bare Escentuals. It's the only makeup I trust. In fact, I just had to purchase the bisque from Sephora a minute ago because I'm running low. On a side note, make sure you get the bisque! It's a concealer and just wonderful. |

Awesome, thanks guys! That helps a lot. I was just worried that I'll look like I have no color without a blush of some sort, but if the basic will cover
that problem or I can use something else, I should be good to go.
So the bisque is good? I was reading mixed reviews on it and wasn't sure. I tend to have dark under eye circles and random dark spots here and there, though, so I probably need something for that. Do you need a super awesome special brush with it, too? |

The bisque is great. I don't know what your skin tone is or anything, but I use the multi-tasking bisque for light skin tones. There is one for very light
tones (which would make me look like a vampire, I think), and then the summer one and so on for darker ones.
Oh, and you just need to use the concealer brush that comes with your kit! |

Good call! I'm very observant!

My starter kit lasted me 6 months or so if I'm remembering correctly. I don't use the warmth (I'm too pale so it looks dumb) and I only started
using the veil now, because I realized that hey, it actually keeps the makeup on in this heat.
The products last for a long time because you aren't using a lot. And yes, a lot of the cost is for the brushes but those big ones are worth it too. Just a note, since you're new to BE! If you're interested in good eyeliner, look into their eyeliner-shadow. It's a powder, and you need a special brush for it. But instead of a BE eyeliner brush, I use one from target (by Sonia Kashuk). It was like $5 and so much better. |

You're so helpful! I'm Stephanie, btw. I really appreciate you taking pity on a BE newbie!

Haha, no problem Stephanie. I'm more than happy to help pimp out BE because their products make my life complete or something.
In general, there are so many different products they have that you aren't sure if you'll need or not need until you try it out. Like, the primer (rever-upper) it came with...I used for a while and then stopped. I felt like it was breaking me out and not making a difference in how it stayed on and I'm fine without it. Some people still prefer a primer though! It all depends on your skin. |

I'm really most concerned with covering my dark spots, blending the occasional redness, and not looking cakey and flaky. My drugstore make up that I use
now is always fine...for about an hour. But as the day wears on, I look so blown out and pale. The blush is always the first to go and I look dead. I just want
more of a consistent product and I've heard that about BE, which is why I'm interested.

It's definitely not cake-y or flaky! This is the only stuff I've used that stays on for a useful amount of time. Like, if I'm going out after work,
I'll reapply but I probably don't need to. I just feel better when I do.
It honestly just gives you a really natural look. I've gotten a lot compliments on how great my skin is, and I'm just like "Thanks, but it's really just my makeup." |

BTW- the clear radiance is the blush.
