An old outdoor cat is not going to like being inside and cooped up all of the time. It might make him sick.

Sorry I only skimmed this but I didn't notice if anyone mentioned deworming? Since it's an outdoor cat I'm sure it has worms. I would test for
FeLV/FIV as well, like someone mentioned. It's kinda routine to check new cats for both of those diseases.

Random update...small but yay! He let me pet him.
He just came to me. I ran inside to wash my damn hands immediately. It was an impulse. Just felt like
the right time to pet him. Hope my hand doesn't fall off.
Within the next couple of days, I'm gonna try to find time to see if we can get him a little cage and take him into this one place that I just happen to be working w/ through school. They're really helpful so I'm gonna see what they can do. If they can clean him up. Hopefully he's not too sick or anything because I really want him to come and live with me. He's my homeboy.

yeah if he let you pet him, things are looking good. if he were totally anti social he wouldn't let you near him. does he looks okay? like does he look
like he's been in street fights and his fur all tattered and all that?

He's just dirty and dusty from being a bum in the streets. I hope he's healthy enough.

I hope it works out for you and your kitty!
I took in a stray kitten last October just before the first frost. The little gray tabby looked like it had been abandoned by its mother at about a month old, and it lived in my neighbour's and my backyard. It took me over two months and who knows how many foiled failed attempts to catch her as she was super nervous and fast! It was very frustrating. Eventually I just stopped trying to catch her blatantly and just fed her day after day, gaining her trust very, very slowly... Anyway long story short. I took her in, and now we're BFFs. Thankfully she's healthy! She headbutts me in the most friendly and cute way when she wants my attention.

Good luck! I took in a stray one time and she was the best. She accustomed to living inside really easily. I love these kind of stories because I feel like
every animal deserves to be loved just like humans do.
