I am so sad for them. I was just thinking about them the other day and see what happened.

I'm not surprised but I feel terrible for the family. They were railroaded.. and had literally no chance of not getting convicted especially since tensions
are running high between N. Korea and the United States. Its awful. Poor Laura's husband has only gotten one letter from her in all that time she's
been in prison.. and not allowed any other contact with her.

Well, guilty is guilty. Sadly. DID they actually break the law? Who knows. But I don't think half the people in jails HERE in the US did either, lol.
IDK - not fair, but it happens a lot. |

As for North Korea - these women should have known better than to stray anywhere near that place. Perhaps Al Gore can use his internet-inventing prowess to free them. |

Its a sad situation but so far they are at least alive and OK. I am sure Daniel Pearls widow would have taken 12 years apart over death. Right now is NOT the
time for them to be in Korea for a story.

So fucking horrible. I hope they are rescued soon. What some of y'all don't get is that both women have been sentenced to a labor camp which is basically a concentration camp. This might as well be a death sentence. Here's what the ladies now have to look forward to: Shortly after arriving at the gulag, it becomes immediately apparent that the most salient feature of everyday life is the combination of below-subsistence-level food rations and extremely demanding labor quotas. Yes what they did was dumb, but certainly wasn't worth a twelve year sentence or time in a labor camp. |

This is incredibly sad and unfair...it's best for US journalists to stay far
away from that madman. |

lol um.. given how many people are exonerated from prisons each year.. half was obviously an exaggeration, but I wouldn't say by much. Especially for those
convicted before DNA testing, bla bla bla... seriously. read the news. lol.

They should have known better than to go anywhere near North Korea. They were repeatedly warned. I am not surprised they were found guilty. Hopefully we will
be able to get their release like we did for the journalist in Iran.

If North Korea tells you not to approach their border, best believe they will punish you with everything short of death when they catch you. |

And yes, they should've stayed as far away as NK as possible, but that doesn't mean that what's happening with them isn't absolutely horrible. |

That's what you get if you go looking for news for fame. North Korea don't play that shit and they should know better, It's like carrying drugs to
Dubai they will lock your ass in Jail forever.

Although it's super sad and obviously politically driven, I think North Americans need to stop pushing boundaries in other countries. You cant ignore the
laws and then expect the punishment to be comparable to what you have in your country - saying "Well in America, this is what we would do" is futile;
North Korea is not America, they should have known better.

Obviously, they're being used as leverage or collateral damage to increase the tension between NKorea and USA.
