The last wedding I went to I gave $75. I went single, I'm 23 and had also spent $50 on an engagement party gift for them. I would have given $100, but I
had just been laid off and really couldn't even afford the $75, nevermind more than that.

How much? Ack. $100 seems too low for this wedding. It's on the island. |

I guess it's whatever you're comfortable with. I was always told to cover at least your dinner. If $100 seems to low for the wedding, maybe $200 or
$150.

Honestly, as much as you want. If you're really close to the people getting married, you may be inclined to give a lot more.

Go with what you can afford. Personally, I think $200 is a little much for a single person in their early 20s to give unless they can definitely afford it.

i wouldnt give less than $200! Weddings cost alot these days...u cant expect to go and pay 50 when they prob pay $125-$175 a pop..it just kinda seems..not
right....depending of course where the wedding is...what is the name of the hall if you dont mind me asking???!

I do not give alot because I do not have alot to give. You can choose to spend alot of money on your wedding, but I'm not going to go into debt just so I
can help pay for your wedding.

You should cover the cost of your plate. Generally nicer places are around 200-250 per plate. Average would be $100-150

I was just going to say, I'm in the midwest and I would give $50!

If the couple getting married wants to spend hundreds of dollars per person then that's their decision, but their guests shouldn't go broke having to make up for it and the couple shouldn't expect that of them either no matter where the wedding is taking place. |

The whole "give enough to cover your meal" rule is the most ridiculous thing to me.

Mistress Darcy wrote:WTF? how does that even make sense? First of all I don't know anyone who would give deli sandwiches at a wedding so thankfully I will never have to worry about that. I guess i should have said "at least" cover the cost of your plate. |
