Are you talking about Sean Goldman? I think what she did was horrible, too!

Yes
And of course she's the one who escapes the mess. I mean,
I'm not saying she should've died but look at what her actions have caused? I don't understand how people are so selfish.

It really sucks because there was a ruling that said that Sean should return home. Not sure if you read the updates on the site, but this is what's going
on now:
"...Marco Aurelio Mello, one of 11 (Brazilian) Supreme Court justices, suspended the sentence after receiving a request from Brazil's Progressive Party, which argued that ordering the child to be sent to the United States was unconstitutional. The Supreme Court must now take up the case, but it was unclear when that would happen." |

Yeah it's so unconstitutional for a child to be able to live with his real father. *rolls eyes*

I've been following this story for a while now and I still can't believe what this poor guy and his son have gone through. Dead or not, his (ex) wife
was a stupid selfish bitch. What she did is beyond screwed up and this poor guy and their little boy are suffering because of it.

^ I know, right? I think the saddest part is that he was given hope multiple times and was told he'd be able to take his son home, but then he'd get to
Brazil and wouldn't be allowed to even see him. There's no reason why this has dragged on for so long.

Did they get the idea for Michael and Walt of Lost from this story?

I feel so bad for this poor family. The Brazilians are screwed up and so is their logic. The boy was essentially kidnapped and if they think returning him to
his right and lawful next of kin would be traumatic then mandate therapy as a stipulataion- not witholding him. If
I were the father I would now hire a commando or a ninja and sneak in there and kidnap the boy back. |

I feel bad for the guy and he needs to get his son back
But the funny part is how everyone is saying Brazil is so screwed up and they are brain washing the kid when we(The US) did the same exact thing when Elian Gonzalez ended up here from Cuba. We played politics too and bribed the kid into staying by giving trips to Disney and buying him a whole bunch of shit. |

Christine81 wrote: There were a lot of differences in the Gonzalez case. The only real similarity was that the mother left her country and took her child away from his father without his permission. She was fleeing a communist country and seeking asylum in the US. Her family interceded upon her death and sought said asylum for her son however the US government did not agree with the family and the Supreme Court refused to even hear the case. US Attorney General Reno ordered the child returned to his father but the family defied the order and officials unfortunately went in with arms to forcibly remove the child and return him to his native Cuba and his biological father. |

It's so sad.
I know they stepped in at the last moment because they don't want to abruptly remove him, but why not make a deal? Decide he'll be able to come back with his father when school finishes this year? Why just deny the request? And now he has a half-sister, too, I think. I feel so bad for the dad. I know maybe Sean might be close with his step-dad, but... it's still not his dad.

I heard about this on CNN. I feel so bad for the guy. He's been fighting for him for YEARS and now they are saying it would be too traumatic for him to be
returned to his father. Well, if the court made the right decision in a timely manner it wouldn't be an issue.

That kid should have been back with his Dad in 2004 when his mom first took him.

Our Supreme Court doesn't have anything to do with them unfortunately. It's up to the Brazilian courts to decide. It's such a sad case. And
it's taken 5 years for the courts to even get this far! I feel so bad for the father.
Oh, and is anyone else finding the father extremely attractive? |

And DEFINITELY after she died at the very latest.
