As long as the parents consent to not being present. (E.G - Social worker and detective think child will be more honest and truthful with out mommy and daddy
there to "pressure".)

From what I understand, you can talk to a witness or a victim without a parent, just not a suspect. Of course, I probably got that from SVU, so take it with a
grain of salt.
