Best type insurance to own (if you rent). It's cheap and it's just as good as homeowners. -My opinion as a claims adjuster.

I'm getting it when I "move" (get my name on my boyfriend's lease and change my address officially) and at the same time adding him and our
new car to my car insurance policy. My car insurance is going to go down over $20 a month!

No. How much are you insured for? Like if the whole apartment burns, how much do you get?

Get it. I recommend it. It's mandatory for us. And our complex has a massive inferno last year.. luckily fire did not touch my apartment. I should have
made a claim on the food I had to throw out when we were not allowed to stay here for weeks. It's worth it.. becuase if something happens and it's your
fault, your neighbor's will make you pay for their damages.

DifferentialDiagnosis wrote:It depends on how much you think you'd need to replace things. We used to have $10K when we got married, upped it to 20K a few years later and then realized after all this time it'd be useless so it's at 50K now. As far as companies.....go to the company that holds your car insurance first. Most companies will give you a discount if you have both home/renters and then car insurance with them. |

The insurance also covers if you have your own washer and dryer and somehow the washer floods the apartment. It can be used for crazy accidents and stuff like
that. It's never happened to me but since my mom was my agent, I think I have every type of insurance you can have. Her boss and co-workers make sure
I'm covered.
Mine is through State Farm and since I had "multiple" policies, my insurance cost went down. I need to up the coverage though since I've bought more furniture since I initially got it. |

Yeah its like my insurance company is going to pay ME to get renters insurance. My car insurance will go down a lot more than the actual cost of the renters
insurance.

Yes, you have to provide the renters insurance to my complex before you can finalize your lease. And frankly it paid off for a ton of people when one of the
complex's was completely lost to a fire late last year.
