My renters' insurance policy is up for renewal. I'm wondering if I need it.

Absolutely. The landlord's insurance covers the structure, not the contents. If there's a fire you need to replace your own personal belongings.

I do, its only 15 dollars a month. I would feel so stupid to not get it and something happens and its only 15 dollars a month.

It's required for a lease at my complex. I can't even renew my lease until I renew my renter's insurance policy!
I can't imagine anyone not having it. All it takes is one fire - and for nothing to be salvageable. I see fires in apartment complexes every day on the news. Scary shit! |

I also keep meaning to get it and I keep putting it off.
My sister just lost EVERYTHING when her apartment caught fire two weeks ago. She had renter's insurance and after helping her with all of that I really need to stop putting it off on my end. Her renter's insurance pretty much saved her. |

Those who have it, do you have a list of everything you own, pictures of the items, and how much their worth?
Because if that list goes up in the fire, then you're screwed aren't you? |

Yes.
My brother let his lapse once and then he came home to a smoke filled apartment (burnt wire in the electrical box). He went down and renewed it the next day. |

I do. Hopefully you will never ever need to use it so it does seem like a waste of money but if you would by chance ever have to, I bet you would wish you
had it...There is a good saying "Better save than sorry" so to make things short..........YES

I currently do not but since I'm renewing my lease in August, I just submitted my info on Geico for a quote--$125. I think that's for the entire year,
though. I'm going to get it.

Yep definately. It only costs me about $10.00 a month, and if you get it thru the same company as your car insurance a lot of times you can qualify for a
discount.

Get it. I always had it until one certain apartment. Of course that one got ruined by a hurricane, had to be demolished, and I lost everything and went into
debt to replenish my belongings.

It's worth it. $18/month for full coverage, why not?
