there are so many weird developments, but to me the strangest is the amount of power Germany has in Europe (and the fact that they achieved this through
peaceful means too!).
others would be the fall of the Wall and of course 9/11. For many different reasons. |

The holocaust. I still can't believe that happened. I mean, I believe that it did, but it's just so crazy to think that basically one man was able to
murder millions upon millions of people just because he didn't like them.
And I'd say September 11th too, mainly because it hit so close to home and also because the terrorists used our instructors and our planes to kill thousands of our own people. |

September 11th was definitely surreal. Americans have seen those types of images in our movies--blockbuster hits that we love--but to see it happen in reality
was incredibly jarring and traumatic.

The Holocaust. The fact that it went through so well planned, so well executed, seemingly unresisted and unaware by the German public, unresponded to by (or
not known by....) intelligence forces of the countries belonging to the Allies.
It (and other acts of genocide like it) is the most surreal moment of human cruelty. However, it also produced some of the most surreal and iconic moments of human compassion and resiliance. |
