They schedule that stuff in advance. It's for publicity and shock value.
That happened in San Diego once, too. The DJ went through this whole spiel about Top 40 was worthless and he wasn't going to play it anymore. Like it was his decision. Then he started playing some Frank Sinatra song, saying something "now this is real music people!" They had this big deal where other DJs come in and wrestle him to the ground and forcibly change the song to country. It was all a publicity stunt. |

They did something like that to one of the local radio stations in CT a few years ago. It was kinda like an alternative/rock station for the LONGEST time, then
one morning we woke up and overnight it had turned into a Rap station. It was like that for a few years and then magically went back to being alt/rock.

That happened here a few years back too. I usually listened to an AM morning show every weekday. The next day I turned it on and there was no morning show, no
Dj , nothing. It's known As Mike Fm "we play everything..."..lol

There was a radio station here a few years ago that made a switch on April Fools day, of all days. People thought it was a hoax- but it wasn't!

My favorite one was when our alternative rock station shut down in 1996... they played "It's the End of the World as We Know It" for 24 straight
hours.
