Gavin DeGraw, Howie Day, Marc Broussard - that's my shit! Mainstream he's a Jason Mraz or John Mayer - you hate to classify people, but it happens. Kris will have commercial success - he's cute as hell and he'll put out catchy songs. Nice choice America!

Kris is seriously so boring to me. But I can understand how he is the more conventional American Idol.
I meant of the two, I can see Kris having a broader appeal. He has a John Mayer/Soft Rock vibe to me.
Did the right man win Idol?

Staargirly wrote:All of this. After performances like "Heartless" and "She Works Hard for the Money," I'm not really sure why people are saying he didn't deserve to win. He's 100% an artist to me, and more importantly, an artist that I'd buy a CD from. Adam can sing the phone book, and good for him, but I bought two of his iTunes songs versus all of Kris'. They're REALLY different artists, and obviously, Kris' style just appeals to more voters. Adam isn't everyone's cup of tea. |

I think, for what the competition is, yeah. I agree with Ashley and Staargirly.
They're both super talented but really, truly different. |

If this show has any ties to the recording industry, then YES then right man won. Its all about marketing. Who would they market Adam to? Who would buy his
cd's?
He's obviously not going to have a bunch of teen fans, or adults. He will have his followers of the pop-punk genre, but they don't buy millions of albums off the shelves. Kris is very marketable, and his music is very radio friendly. Yes, Adam is also talented, but good lord can you imagine hearing that screeching voice being played on the radio????

Serious question. What kind of album would/will Adam make? I mean...honestly. He isn't current...at all, in my opinion. He's very theatrical and over
the top. He will be great for things like broadway, but as far as putting out an album? I really can't even decide what type of album he would/will have.
He's fun to watch, but that wont make him successful (in terms of records/radio/concerts) in my opinion. He is not radio friendly at all. Every time I look
at him I can't help but think Rocky Horror Picture Show. He kind of reminds me of Blake (from AI a few seasons back). Everyone was all about that guy
because he was so unique and "different," and well, look at him now.
I can see Kris being way more successful because he reminds me of a John Mayer/Jason Mraz type. |

I agree with a lot of people in here and just don't see how they would market Adam at all. And we have to remember just because millions of votes were
casted(where people voting over and over...) never really equals the same in album sales. It's much easier to pick up a phone and vote then actually go out
and buy the cd. So I'm curious how both will do and I'm a Kris fan.

The boring safe boy next door one won. Which is not necessarily bad, but...well, boring. Most of the time he was onstage tonight I forgot he was there and he
was outperformed by pretty much everyone-not just Adam, but the other celebrities and the contestants already voted off. I guess America likes generic and
boring though especially seeing what DOES dominate the musical charts.

Although I think Kris is mucho talented, nope the right man didn't. I don't think he comes close to Adam but they both will have great careers I'm
sure.

Interesting summary of things already confirmed (even by Fox):
"Uh, yo, guys - are you really getting this 38 million votes from Arkansas thing? We're talking nearly half the votes from one small state? Which their government is proud of? We're talking what amounts to a professional political campaign of stadium parties, free Go Phones, free food, etc. Which means in the other 49 states Adam probably (must have) won, especially considering they were separated by only a million votes last week. Which makes Adam the American Idol and Kris the Arkansas Idol. I'm having problems wrapping my head around this. When did TPTB find this out? How in anyone's definition of fair could one state of 3 million people be allowed to decide the winner for the other 49 states after a corporate-sponsored campaign (AT&T gave away the phones, someone gave away the food, the free stadium use, etc)? Does. Not. Compute. No wonder they're putting Adam's NB song on iTunes." Not only that, but Is Anybody Listening from Ten Commandments was also released on iTunes. Let's wait and see. |

Yes. We've seen Adam as a star since Tracks of My Tears. Kris needed to win to get that exposure.

I can't stand phony Adam. I feel like we never saw who he is, that it was an act the whole time. He has a really nice voice, but ruins EVERY song with his
screeching. I would seriously mute my TV so I didn't have to listen to him. In other words, I am REALLY happy that Kris won!

Yes! But I would have been happy if Adam had win too. They're both talented in their own right, but completely different.

I liked them both but I got so sick of the judges basically saying that Adam should be the winner that I was thrilled when he wasn't. |
