That's so pathetic, the poor woman is suffering and people take advantage of her. There is no hope for this world.

Absolute shame.
And why would the facility let someone with DEMENTIA out with a non relative? I just saw that on PEOPLE and went to their site to see if
they had something to say.
This is their lame excuse of a story:

JeterFan wrote:Exactly. At no point did the facility, which had given its permission for the outing, contend that there had been any wrongdoing in a situation where two people who had known each for more than a decade. So this reporter was on the list as being someone who could take her out of the facility? If not, then I'm sorry the facility is in the wrong as is the reporter. I don't know of any dementia nursing home that just signs people out to whoever. Whenever we took my grandpa out, we had to give like a two day notice, write down where we were going, what time we'd be back, etc... We even had to do that with my grandma at a regular nursing home. You just couldn't walk in there and take them out whenever you wanted because the homes had guidelines and paperwork to fill out to make sure everyone was safe. |

That facility needs to be investigated by the state because that is serious neglect on their part. They need to be shut down immediately because that shit is
just bogus as hell. No excuse will ever be able to cover their ass.
As for the reporter? He's a fucking dickhead for doing that shit. Taking advantage of an old woman who doesn't even know any better because of a disease just because you want a fucking story? That's way beyond wrong. |

That's just insane! I can't believe the nursing home would let a patient with dementia just leave with some stranger.

The National Equirer and everyone who works for them need to DIAF. That's fucked up to do something like that.

So is the NE defending this reporter because well, they suck? Or are they defending him because the guy works for NE or was getting a story for NE?
I don't get how anyone would DEFEND this or call it "kind of boring"

if i'm rich like her, i will not put my mother in a nursing home, my mother is staying with me, provided with a special nurse to monitor her condition.

I read somewhere that a photographer was also there. (which proves it wasn't just a simple lunch, but an attempt to get a story). But even if things
happened exactly how the NE described it's still a crime. They should not have let a woman with dementia make her own decisions without contacting Brooke
first. The person who signed her out (who was probably promised payment from the NE) as well as the journalist and photographer should be arrested.
And if they were such longtime friends of hers they would have known she had dementia and should not have been moved. Nor was she in any condition to say "Let's go do lunch" . They would have said, "No Teri,
we'll eat here". My grandmother had dementia. And it's very upsetting to think someone could take advantage of someone in that condition.

WTF kind of nursing home is that? No reputable nursing home will let anyone but a family member, a staff member, a medical person or a legal guardian take a
patient out of their facility. As for the NE, they are beyond despicable -- no surprises there. Nothing those ghouls did would surprise me.

tingpao wrote:Then just hope and pray you are rich like her. Private care at home is horrifically expensive, and most medical insurance plans do not cover it. It is a very difficult decision to place an aged relative in a nursing home. Many people in those facilities have advanced Alzheimers and cannot be cared for in their own homes. It's not that the family members don't care about them, they are just unable to cope with the problems and demands of taking care of a totally helpless Alzheimers patient. |
