I've worked as a receptionist at a doctor's office.

Did you guys like it? I'm going to be doing it just 2 days a week at a really small office. Do you have to learn a lot about insurance and things like
that?

Depends on if they have a separate billing department, which if it is a small office then they probably don't. I really enjoyed it, but there was a lot of
filing.

My job was mainly dealing with patient charts, answering the phone, and making phone calls. There was a office manager that took care of everything else. I
liked it over all, but occasionally I was asked to spin blood or dispose of vomit/excrement/bloodiness and I hated that because a have a weak stomach for that
kind of thing. I doubt you would have to deal with any of that though.

My mom used to be an assistant to an orthodontist, but eventually her arthritis got too bad and she couldn't do it anymore. Now she works their reception
desk. It seems like the worst parts of her job involve people who don't understand how their health insurance works (and take it out on her) and people who
get angry when they get charged for missing appointments (even though they sign a contract explaining the policy).
