The only people who have really asked me how we met are my closer friends, so I wouldn't lie to them. I know it sounds weird to say you met your s/o on
match.com, but I wouldn't trade having met him for anything in the world so it's hard for me to be embarrassed about it. I don't know if that makes
any sense.

In all honesty, if you work a full time job it's hard to meet people since work consumes a lot of your time. I joined it bc I moved to a state where I
don't know anybody and how else am I going to meet people? I don't like going to a bar by myself and all of my co-workers are married or engaged

yep! I have a friend who we met online and started dating. We are both happily married now, but to this day we don't tell people that we actually met
online and dated.

I met my boyfriend on eharmony, and I lie about it. I wouldn't really care if people know now, but things were a bit crazy in the beginning, so I lied
about it. We had talked online for a long time and met in person a couple times, but it was hard because I lived in New York and he lived in Maryland. After
about a year, I wound up moving to Maryland, primarily because I wanted to give our relationship a real shot. I knew that there was a serious connection
between us, but I also knew it would seem like a crazy thing to do to anyone else. My parents and friends would have killed me if I told them "I'm
moving to be with a boy I know online and who I've only met a couple times," lol.
So, yeah, I lied and said we met through a mutual friend. Like I said, I wouldn't care if people knew now. I'm not embarrassed about it, really, but the lie has been going on for so long, I just keep it up. And for the record, I now live with the said boy, and things are fantastic. I don't regret the move at all. Definitely the person I want to spend the rest of my life with! |

I met my husband on Myspace. When we started dating we just said we met through friends because it felt so LAME. But now we don't care.
I had a boyfriend at the time that we met on Myspace and he and I started talking because we had a lot in common. I had just moved back home and I wanted to meet some new friends. I accepted him as a friend because his pictures looked NERDY so I knew it wouldn't cause any problems with my current relationship. We hung out a few times and after MONTHS as friends it just kind of happened. So now we tell people, and when he isn't near me I tell people the full story (including the nerdy picture part) |

My aunt tells people she met her husband at Burger King (where they first physically met) but really what's worse? I met my husband from a dating website
or I met my husband at Burger King?

My friend, who met her husband on JDate, never tells anyone the truth about how they met. I wonder why some people are so ashamed of this.

It's unfortunate that people react that way. I don't see what the problem is.
