Has anyone ever taken a home pregnancy test and the results ended up being incorrect? Like, the test says 'positive' but you end up not being
pregnant...or vice versa? Is this a common occurrence?

False positives are pretty comon, but it's rarer to get a negative when you're really pregnant.

I thought it was the other way around-false negatives being way more common than a false positive.

Nope, all of the ones I've ever taken were accurate.
Backstory? |

Its the other way around Kamadezea........there are hardly ever false positives. But false negatives are pretty common, especially testing in the earliest
stages.

I thought false negatives were more common and false positives were pretty rare.

It's pretty hard to get a false positive. A positive means your body is registering HCG, the pregnancy hormone. False negatives are quite common though.

I agree with the others - if it says positive, it is.

This girl thought she was pregnant until a week after her due date.. At least her husband did.

You have to be sure to follow the directions. If you see a line but the test is past the duration it says in the directions, it doesn't mean it's
positive.
I once took an HPT and saw a line after the time frame and freaked out, but I was not pregnant. So once the test expires, don't rely on the results. |

I don't know. Supposedly. They're 18 and 20 and have been married for a year. It's my bf's brother and the situation is fishy. I feel kinda bad
for the brother. I honestly think her and her mother lied to that boy for 6 months.

I think the only way you can get a false positive is if you have some kinda cancer.
This one time I accidentally bought an ovulation test instead of a pregnancy test because I didn't know what it even was and they look the same. I quickly bought it and then took it in walmart and threw the box away. I was ovulating apparently but I thought it was a positive pregnancy test. I was freaking out telling everyone. Boy, did i feel retarded. This was like a year or 2 ago, though. i make sure to pay attention to what I'm buying. Random story, but i thought it was funny. |

With my first it was a false negative. I took it a couple days after my missed period and it was false. I took another one a week later and it was positive.
My mom had a Molar pregnancy and that registers a false positive. It can develop into cancer but my mom's didn't. |

With this pregnancy, I tested very early on, wasn't even late and my tests came back neg, but I left it on the counter and a few hours later they had
turned pos. I took another one a week later that was pos right away. My hormone levels just weren't high enough
