Positives: Weight loss, healthier diet, helping animals (hopefully)
Negatives: Food is not very filling or lasting, limited food choices, very limited food choices, extremely limited food choices, very little protein intake |

The limited food choices would I assume get annoying after a while but I guess you'd get used to it then.

No, you don't get used to it.

- For protein, there's always soy, quinoa and tofu.
- For fiber, there's always wheat, nuts and root vegetables. - For all the essential fatty acids, there is always extra virgin coconut oil (which is so yum by the way). - For healthy snacks, there's always Larabars and Gnu Fiber bars. - For healthy sweets, there's always dark chocolate and ice creams made from soy milk, almond milk and/or coconut milk. There are a TON of vegan alternatives to your favorite foods actually. You just have to do your research. If you do decide to go all the way, I commend you. I haven't been able to make that step yet because of honey.

I think if you did your research and took the time to eat a balanced diet, it would be just fine. I am not vegan myself, but am finishing my BS in Nutrition
and this is something discussed in class. It is possible to get a complete diet (protein included) by eating vegan, just be smart about it.
Speaking of, I have been to a vegan restaurant that has AMAZING foods. You can manipulate foods to create a variety of options, so that you don't get bored. Plus, from an animal advocate POV, conventional farming treats farm animals horribly. Just google the ethics of eating meat/becoming vegan... Its depressing. |

And as long as I'm cooking at home, my food choices are quite varied. I eat Mexican, Indian, Italian, Moroccan, etc. dishes. Whatever I'm in the mood for. It's not until I go out to a restaurant that I end up with very limited food choices. |

My boyfriend is vegan, I'm vegetarian.... but when we cook together, we cook vegan.... we never really run into food being boring... I feel like we always
have new stuff to try.

Make sure you're taking ample supplements. Especially iron and B12.

Negatives: YOU CAN'T EAT CHEESE!
I don't understand people who don't eat cheese. It's weird |

When I say limited food choices, I'm talking about when you go out somewhere and all you have to choose from is a set menu. For example, I live on campus 9
months a year and I eat on campus and I only have whatever they offer as options. Fast food places and restaurants are tough, too.

I got this book - The Skinny Bitch or something like that and I thought it was going to be about like eating right and how to lose weight - it turns out the
diet is a vegan diet. The book was pretty good though, obviously one-sided, but very informational if you're looking to read up on becoming vegan.
I thought for a second about it but I love food way too much to do something like that! |

i was vegan for about a year. i couldn't do it. i had to have my cheese. soy cheese tastes pretty much the same to me, but good luck trying to find that
out in restaurants.
it was also tough with things like skittles and other types of products that have animal products in them even though they shouldn't. as a vegetarian i still try to stay away from gelatin and things like that but sometimes its just like fuck it, it's not worth the fight. if someone offers me some skittles i'm not that strong to say no.

I spend less money now that I've given up animal products. Meat is expensive. Going out to eat is expensive.
Cooking at home with bulk items such as rice and beans and then fresh produce is much cheaper. |
