They shoot you up with pitosum(sp?) and put a strip up inside you with some sort of medicine to help think you out and dialate you. The pitosum forces your
body to start contracting. Some say it's more painful than going into labor naturally. I don't know. I was induced with my first and was only in labor
for 8 hours. And I had a csection with my second so I don't know what going into natural labor feels like.

The pitocin made me have a lot stronger contractions than I had when I naturally went into labor. They just hook you up to an IV and give you the meds and then
monitor you to make sure things are going ok. They also broke my water to get things moving along.

There are different ways to do it but basically induced labor is any non-natural method to start or propell a woman's labor to get the baby born. They
usully use a drug like Pitocin, which triggers contractions, or manually break the water to do the same.

I had an induction with first child too. The contractions started almost right away at 2 minutes apart and were very painful. Epidural couldn't come soon
enough.
I'm actually due right now with second child, the old fashoined way of waiting for labour to come. We skipped the waiting part before and it is killing me right now.. as well am hoping that I will know when exactly to go to the hospital. |
