And it's something I'm totally for (I'm getting her the job, LOL), but I'm still a bit apprehensive. If any of the women give her crap like
they've given me, I'm going to basically want to kill people. I'm a wee bit protective of my mother.

Did your entire family move there when you got accepted to college?

Well, it was more the other way around. My parents were like "We want to move," and I was like "I want to get the hell out of this town."
So we did. I applied here, got in, we moved, and that was that! |

I would pretty much have to kill myself if my mother and I ever worked at the same place.

That's cool. I hope I can get away with that when my kids go off to college.

Aw.
The other day my boss mentioned to me that we had an opening and asked if I knew anyone who was interested. I asked my mom when I got home and she was like "....YES!" We won't actually work together, but at least we'll get to talk smack about the same people now! |

Two years ago I actually came to work for the company my mother's been with for almost 30 years; it was awkward at first, but for the most part, we
don't really see each other unless it's deliberate. I can't remember the last time we had lunch together but that's mainly because she's
MUCH higher up here than I am and way busier.

I think it's refreshing to hear someone speak about their mom here in a nice way and that you have such a great relationship with her. Too many others here
are so hateful when speaking about their moms.

I worked with my dad for about 2 years and it was awesome. I wish I still had that job.

Some people may have valid reasons to be less than thrilled with their moms, so I try not too judge too harshly.
I'll be happy for her if this works out. She was always a stay-at-home, and hasn't really figured out what to do now that her 'raising kids' job is pretty much over. So I know it'll make her feel all sorts of good about herself to start working again. |
