I hope you learn how to spell lying before you get that admin job.

You guys, anything that reeks of a lame attempt to really say, "I'm just so awesome/anal/perfectionist" is so transparent. All savvy interviewers
are on to that. It's not telling them anything other than you're good at making up bullshit
. This career counselor is great (I can find the source but I'm too lazy --
my real weakness by the way -- to post it). I'm on a mailing list that sends out excellent tips. Anyway:

EVERYONE says perfectionist. So much so that when asked that question, I answer, "This is where I'm supposed to say I'm a perfectionist,
right?" and they laugh.
I usually say that as I'm new to the position/company, my primary weakness would be a learning curve to understand what they do on a day-to-day basis, what's expected of me, etc. And then I ask about those things so I can get a head start on it. |

I can't believe people actually use the "I'm a perfectionist" line. Interviewers want a real weakness, but mostly they want to know what
you've done to improve it.
I say that my weakness has been time management, but that lately I've made efforts to become more organized and the use of outlines and to-do lists has made me a much more efficient worker than I was previously. |

I always say that I am not a natural public speaker but have taken more than one public speaking class and attended toastmasters to become more natural and
confident when public speaking.

I usually say that I like to be involved as much as possible for my own personal growth. It can be overwhelming at times, but I like to be challenged.

I used to say my weakness is that I'm only fluent in one language so it makes it hard for me to reach out to a variety of people, but I was working on
correcting that by taking courses.
Most appreciated that answer because it wasn't cliche bullshit, but at the same time not a real reason that would exactly hinder me from getting the job. |
