A gay marriage in the middle of a corn field is like best idea ever to me. For some reason.

I'm very open to an open marriage.
Of course Lance can marry us. |

K, but he needs to wear a yarmulke. Gotta throw my parents a bone somehow, since I'm marrying a woman and all. At least it'll be a Jewish wedding. (And
truly, I'm pretty sure that's all they'd care about anyway.)

"'But I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything.'
In an interesting twist, Prejean revealed that her sister supports same sex marriage. 'My sister is a second lieutenant in the Air Force and she is a gay rights activist.'"Did their parents raise them differently? |

Who knows. Perhaps one simply developed moral compass and independent thoughts. The other one...well. She's a grown woman stuck living her life in beauty
pageants for a reason, I'm guessing.

I am sure he has a pink sequined one for just such an occasion!
I am all for a Jewish ceremony. I just have to inform you that black folks show up with 75 extra people who never rsvp'd and expect to be seated. You've been warned. I'm sure we will learn a lot about each other in our open lesbian inter-cultural favorite Nsyncers ceremony-contributed marriage .

I don't understand why everyone keeps throwing "hateful" around. Her comments seemed more ignorant than "hateful." I'm sure she
loves her gays just like every other gal
. It was probably just the way
she was raised, and she just didn't articulate her "argument" clearly.
Some people just have there own justification of why gays shouldn't marry that has nothing to do with homophobia or hate. I don't necessarily agree with it, but its an opinion people are entitled to have. Get over it. And comparing her comments, in any way, to the KKK or Neo-Nazism or whatever, no. Just, NO. I really hope some of you are smarter than that. |

caryse wrote:No offense, but that's really kind of a vile statement. Thinking someone is quaint or entertaining isn't loving them. And you can't really "love" someone and deny them equality and the rights you yourself enjoy at the same time. That's kind of a contradiction. |

I didn't say my comment with the idea in the back of my head that Miss California was straight, it has nothing to do with your sexual preference or anything in between. This on the Miss USA website: These women are savvy, goal-oriented and aware. The delegates who become part of the Miss Universe Organization display those characteristics in their everyday lives, both as individuals, who compete with hope of advancing their careers, personal and humanitarian goals, and as women who see to improve the lives of others. I guess I read that and wonder why someone would be apart of that with the feelings that certain Americans shouldn't be allowed a basic American right. |

See, I just find it shocking when someone says something ignorant, slightly controversial, or backwards, people lose their shit and go crazy. Its not shocking
(to me, anyway) that there are people like Miss California out there. Seriously, just roll your eyes and ignore them.
This shouldn't be a 5 page debate every night. And it shouldn't inundate the news; its sad when an ignorant comment causes this much of a stir. Find something more productive to discuss than a dumb broad whose blonde hair dye has seeped into her roots and gone to her brain. |

The majority of the voting population in California voted against gay marriage, so yeah, not a surprise.

Its not shocking (to me, anyway) that there are people like Miss California out there. No one is shocked, I'm sure. I don't see anyone "losing their shit" either. Probably not even 10 years ago that question would have never even been asked as something like Miss USA, where most of the contestants are conservative Christian girls. So it's a good thing |

I don't think she knows what she's saying. On the one hand, it is how she was raised and her beliefs are in her family but then she also says that her
family didn't influence her and they all have their own beliefs.
Of course she's entitled to her own opinion. I just think she's a little slow on the equality train. Maybe it's because I'm old that I remember not so long ago it would have been more common to hear people say, "No offense or anything but Negros should stay in their place. It's just how I was raised and what I believe." They too would stand up proudly while denying equality to others. Nowadays people might not stand up and loudly proclaim those things, unless they are idiots, but instead they'll keep those thoughts and express their prejudice in whispers within their own narrow-minded circle of family, friends and community of like-minded bigoted supporters. |
