Oh and I'm thinking of spending around $100 each on them. Is that too much or too little?
If you were a bridesmaid what would you want as your gift?

I want to get my bridesmaids fairly nice gifts and stay away from getting them stupid stuff that they will only use the day of the wedding. Any suggestions?
What would you want?

I wouldn't expect much. $100 seems like a lot to me. Weddings are expensive enough as it is.

I can tell you I have received more "they perfectly match the dresses!" jewelry than I ever wanted, and don't need a new jewelry box to put the
aforementioned crap in.
If you are willing to spend $100, get them a day at a spa. I would have loved to have gotten a massage after dealing with bridezilla! |

We received a jewelry box that had a picture frame on the top. I thought it was nice!

A spa treatment would be SO nice.
I've mostly received jewelry to wear on the day of the wedding though... |

I agree with Lo. Get them something useful and/or personal to them. Nothing wedding-related, since if you are going to spend the money, you might as well make
it about them and not feel like another bridesmaid obligation!

My best friend got my a necklace to wear in the wedding, but it's so pretty and I wear it almost every day. She also got us a tote with our name, travel
makeup bags, and an engraved mirror. All that stuff is fairly common, but I actually still use the stuff.
I think a spa treatment would also be nice. |

Yeah, I'm completely staying away from the jewlery thing, unless it's really nice stuff they can wear other times. Or unless I get them something else.
What if I got them a gift and then a GC for a mani/pedi? I just don't want a cliche gift. And I figure $100 is the least I can do for all the time and monitary commitments they are making for me. But I am also paying for where they stay since it's a destination wedding. |

If you got them jewelry, I'd get them something simple/classic... maybe something from Tiffany that you can wear all the time.
But I like the day at the spa idea... it'd be even more fun I think if you all went together! |

In the last wedding I was on, the girl gave us the lame jewelry and a fleece blanket w our name embroidered on it. It wasn't that exciting, but at least
it's something I use.

Okay so day at the spa sounds good.
And I found this one Tiffany necklace that I really want to get them but that takes it way over the budget. Now, if I go with the spa day when should we do it? I'm getting married at the beach so should I find a place down there to do it like the day before the wedding? Or do it up here where we live? |

I think that is up to you regarding the location. Would YOU want to do it the day before? or will you be too stressed out to enjoy it?

My favorite bridesmaid gift I got was a monogrammed tote. I use it all the time during the summer.

I think we're getting earrings for the wedding I'm about to be in. I have no idea what they look like though.

I was in one of my best friend's weddings last year and at the last minute they told us they didn't have enough money to get us a gift.
So anything would be nice, but I agree on the spa. |

A full on spa treatment with the girls the day of the wedding
nothing else.

i always think silver necklaces/bracelet that are super simple are the way to go. This way they wear it day of and its simple enough to wear again, plus they
think of you whenever they wear it

My sister in law went nuts-- we got jewelry she wanted us to wear with the dress, a monogrammed tote, a sterling compact with my name engraved, and a
"wedding survival kit"--it had little snacks and candy, a sewing kit, hairspray, bobby pins, water, tissues, etc.
One of my best friends that just got married just got us the jewelry--but it's really nice jewelry that I could wear again, not typical "this goes perfectly with the dresses and you'll probably never wear it again" jewelry |
