Why do all the ignorant folk have to be from my state?! In my area there are a lot of Asians and most that I know go by "American" names like Paul
and Lisa b/c the people around here don't want to even try pronounce their names.

It's a shame lawmakers like her are out there running something. Anyway, my Chinese middle name is "Siqi" and my
mom's Chinese name is "Xiaoyan." It's been pretty much a guarantee someone will mess up those names if they are not Chinese, haha.

I have a Vietnamese friend, Nga, who pronounces it like "nah".
She told me a story about running for student government once, where two black girls stopped in front of one of her campaign posters and one asked the other "who the heck is nigga?" ...so yeah, I could understand screwing up Vietnamese names. |

Um, Chinese names are one syllable unless we're talking about the name as a whole. Not THAT hard.
My mom's first middle and last names are: Xiao Yi Lee My chinese name is: Wei Run Lee My brother's chinese name is: Wei You Tsun My other brother's chinese name is: Wei Da Wei See how there are 3 names total and one syllable each name? |
