Only if they'd been married and his/her spouse died.

With fewer and fewer people getting married these days, I wouldn't be surprised. Not for a while though, like 20 years down the road.

No, it doesn't seem to be part of the political equation. It almost seems like a requirement to move forward one needs a spouse.

Hopefully soon. I hate how society looks down on single people as if they were defective.

just imagine the president on match.com or something is funny to think about.
where would you take me on a first date? oh the g-20 summit in london, then we'll skip on over to france, germany, the czech republic and we'll finish it up with a quick visit to turkey. how does that sound? |

I don't it. America is hung up on the "family values" train and would probably not look at the person as pro-family.

i agree with whoever said we could have a widower. probably not someone who had been divorced and had not remarried, or someone who had never been married to
begin with. obviously (hopefully) things may change in the future, but that's how i see out version of "electable" now.

A single president would totally mess up all the inaugural balls. who would he dance with at all 16 of em? lol
Not to mention the media coverage the relationship would get. it'd be crazy. |

Like someone said, there'd have to be a 'reason' WHY they were single.
Like they were a widower or they were sick in the past or they were taking care of a family member all their lives, etc. To just be single because they enjoyed it? Doubtful someone who had that viewpoint would ever get far. |

Not anytime soon. I don't really want my president being a bachelor. I want him concentrating on issues at hand, not dating and when he's next getting
laid and by who. Or whom.

I wonder more when most Americans would be willing to accept a gay president.
