Posts: 872 (03/29/2009 12:42 AM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Friend Block Invite Ignore	i have very dark brown hair but i put jet black dye in it in october so its not fully grown out. i just wanted to know any ones experience with going from this color to red. i wanted to have my hair auburn or close to the redhead in the pussycat dolls color. i asked a stylist and she basically said not to do it and explained the process to me but she wasnt the colorist and i just dont understand how all of these other girls go from black to red. if any of you lovely ladies have had good or bad experiences with this process could you please share with me. i really want to do it but it seems like its not a good idea. thanks in advance!

Even if a colorist uses color remover many times, it may not come out completely. Another option is bleaching out, and this could be damaging if the colorist is not very careful. In order to get intense Pussycat dolls red, your hair will need to be bleached, then re-colored with bright intense red dye. It's a very difficult job, and it will be a full-on color correction job, not simple hair dyeing job. A good colorist might make this happen, but you may need to be patient and accept the fact it may take more one visit to get the result you want. Good luck, black dyes are extremely hard to remove. Red dye also fades like nothing else, and it is a very high maintenance color. I can see why that stylist told you not to do it.

It took a few visits (six weeks apart) to find a color that I was happy with, and I kept it for about five years (until a few months ago). Red does fade more quickly that other colors, but it's not impossible to work around. I would recommend a leave-in conditioner, because the rinse out ones make the color fade faster. (I did love my color, and I might go back to it one day, but I thought it was time for a change.) I'd be concerned with the black hair dye. My cousin used to dye her hair jet black, and when she wanted highlights, and it was extremely difficult to work around. I agree with the previous two posters about finding a good colorist to guide you. For something like this you need someone who's well trained.
