They pulled all sorts of tricks like giving like a crappy bit off and then with taxes, tags, and fees it came up to be the same as the sticker price. Im like before the recession we got better offers.
For a recession car dealerships arn't negotiating.

My mom's van has like over 200,000 miles on it, so we've been looking around for something to replace it. We went to a sorts of different dealerships
and all the salesmen arn't happy when they heard "negotiate." Im like wtf? Recession? what happened to that effecting car industry?

They aren't selling as many cars so they can't afford to negotiate as much.

The prices are already lower than they have been in years and they're offering really low interest rates.

^^^ who said anything about buying a shitty car? I said we're looking for something to replace it- I didnt say anything about selling it to them.
Why would anyone sell back a car with over 200,000 miles anyway?

I dealt with the same thing when my lease was up. They could have cared less. I wound up going elsewhere.

Oh! I thought you were trying to do a trade in. I was like, huh? Your car has 200k! Of course they don't really want it.
But yeah, that sucks. |

I love that people are expecting dealerships to just give away cars

^^^^ nobody said giveaway cars- I didnt say I wanted a car for free or a ridiculous low price. I said "negotiate." The deals we've gotten on our
cars in the past were actually deals- the deals they are giving now arn't deals, you end up paying sticker price again anyway.

What kind of car are you trying to get? Japanese cars (Toyota/Honda) usually aren't negotiable. You only get deals if the manufacturer is having rebates.
I paid sticker price for my car in 2006. My only "deal" was that the sticker price included taxes, license and rustproofing. My boyfriend just bought his new car last week....same situation. He tried to negotiate and even walked away for a week. Nothing. |

Diane99 wrote: Depends on where you're buying, too. My brother just bought a 2009 Honda Pilot Touring for about $4k-$6k under MSRP in a larger city. He called another dealership that was in a smaller town, and they weren't willing to match the price. But he negotiated with 2-3 different dealerships to get that price, too. |
