I'm really weary on renting from a landlord again since the place I am at right now is going under foreclosure so I'm thinking of living in an
apartment complex. Opinions?

i agree with the maintence thing. since we've moved in to the condo we've had issues with things that took forever to get fixed or just never got fixed
at all. plus you have to deal with a condo association don't you? our complex makes us only have white in the windows (in terms of curtains and blinds) and
a bunch of other rules. they've been a pain in our ass since we've moved in.

Are you going to be renting or buying? There are condos for lease and I would think the owner would be liable for repairs. If you really are afraid of the risk
of foreclosure, I'd say go with an apartment.

It depends. The advantage of renting an apartment is that you really aren't responsible for anything. The disadvantage is that your money isn't
really gaining anything for you.
Conversely, if you buy a condo, you're responsible for more but your money is getting you equity, and eventually, ownership of the condo. Each thing has good and bad points. You have to decide what is most important to you. |

LOL I guess I meant leery?
Anyways, thanks for your advice guys. Another reason why I'm leaning towards an apt. complex is because most of them allow pets and I want a pet.
As far as owning something, I eventually do want to buy.. just not right now. |

I currently rent a condo and I enjoy it. My landlord is great and generally if something goes wrong he'll get on it right away. But in all reality it
depends on WHO you rent from. Not all landlords are going to be great and not all will be terrible.

My problems with renting a condo: 1) They can show that property to a buyer at any time without notifying you, which means that 2) If someone wants to buy that
property, the landlord is only obligated to give you 30 days before you had to move out.

PuraVidaPanama wrote:Not necessarily. You have to make sure all this is covered in your lease agreement. I'd rather rent a condo because they're usually nicer and include a washer/dryer. |
