I'm thinking of getting this done and just had a couple of questions. Were you awake during the procedure? Do they do both eyes at once? Did you have to do
anything prior to the surgery? How long was recovery time? And I'm assuming most health insurances won't cover it right? Also, did you like the
results? Did you have 20/20 vision or do you still ahve to wear glasses/contacts?

I got the surgery done about 2 and a half years ago. I was awake during the procedure. It took a total of 7 minutes I believe. They did one eye first and then
the other. The second one was a little more scary because you knew what to expect even though it didn't hurt at all. It just got dark for a second. The
recovery time was pretty quick. I needed to put drops in for several weeks and no eye makeup for 6 weeks. I also had to wear goggles for the first day because
you can't rub your eyes. I went back to the doctor the next morning. Insurance did not cover. I have 20/10 vision, no glasses or contacts. I HIGHLY
recommend it. It was the best thing I ever did!

I'm no help. I've answered this question before on here in long detail but don't feel like typing it out again right now. In short, my eyes were
done one at a time (30 days between) and my recovery was long and painful. But I don't regret doing it at all.

My procedure was exactly the same and it was one of the best things I've ever done. I haven't worn glasses in a year.
They do give you a valium right before to relax you. The dryness afterwards was the only downside. It was very irritating for a few weeks, but then my eyes went back to normal. |

I had really bad vision, so I had to wear my glasses for like two weeks before the surgery. It blew.
Also, I had REALLY bad halos at night after having it. Even now, more than two years later, when I'm tired they're horrible. It was the hardest thing for me. But I see perfectly now, so I would still definitely recommend it! |

I had Lasik a little over a year ago. I had them both done at the same time (I would never have gotten them done at different times - trust me, it's best
to just get it all over at once). My insurance covered around $700, but some insurance companies do not cover any. I was awake during the procedure, but I was
given a Xanax beforehand, so I was a little out of it. It took about 5 mins (maybe a little longer) from the time I sat in the chair until they were taking me
into the post-op room where they checked my eyes. My right eye took 30 seconds of actual laser time (they counted down in 5 second intervals) and my left eye
took 23 if I remember correctly. It's a very quick process.
My vision in my left eye is 20/15 and my right eye is 20/20. I see incredibly well and I'm soo glad I did it! The only problem I had with the recovery was that I didn't fall asleep before my pain meds wore off. I tried to go to bed (with the help of an Ambien) as soon as I got home, but the pain was already so bad I couldn't sleep (it was only about a 12 minute drive home). I ended up taking Tylenol PM and was able to fall asleep; it helped so much. My biggest advice is get home as soon as you can after the surgery and take Tylenol PM instead of the Ambien they give you. I had broken blood vessels in my eyes (I've honestly never seen anyone have this problem, but I have sensitive eyes), so that took about 3-4 weeks to heal. The recovery isn't that bad, and I know for most people, they're back at work the next day. |

Can they give you deep IV sedation (not general)?
I rather be somewhat out of it. |

Well you take something of an active part in the surgery so I'm not all too sure on how well that would work out.

Sorry I didn't see this last night. Went to bed early.
What kind of active role do you have to take during the surgery? At least it seems like its over quickly. I hope that I can get this done. |

I have to say, I have never heard of LASIK being done on the eyes days apart. Are you sure you had LASIK done and not PRK? Everyone , including myself , who
have had LASIK done, had both eyes done at the same appointment. .
Also usually the recovery time is very minimal, like maybe a day. I had dryness like jenhavins also stated. It as nothing an eye drop couldn't fix though. Also, I have never heard of anyone getting IV sedation with LASIK. LASIK is really a minimal surgical procedure, as far as surgeries go. I myself had no pain at all, at any point. My vision is quite good, pretty much close to 20/20, like maybe 20/20 in one eye and close to that in the other. |

Same as everyone else, but I had a very long recovery time--it took about three months for the fog to completely lift from my eyes, and I also had to get an
adjustment a year later. My correction was very high (my contact prescription was -7.0 and -8.5), so that lengthens recovery and raises the chances of a second
procedure.
Worth every terrifying moment, though. |

Yes, you have to be able to focus on the laser.
