I am for the medical use of it, but I wish there were a way to enforce the law so that those who drive under it's influence can be punished.

I'm guessing drunk driving would go down too because a lot of people who drink a lot would start smoking since the feeling is better and you don't have to worry about a hangover! And people don't drive under the influence of pot? I wish when Prohibition ended they would have legalized marijuana and kept alcohol illegal. That would make so much more sense. On what planet would that have made sense?  Clearly Americans were NOT happy with having their booze taken away.
(For the record, I'm for legalizing medical marijuana. I'm also for legalizing marijuana if there's a way we could control the commerce and test for it easily.) |

Um, marijuana has just as many toxins and harms your lungs/respiratory system as much as cigarettes.
Anyways, I don't like either and why would people
put things like tar and ammonia in their bodies? Ick.

pot does not have cyanide and tar like cigs do. Well at least here in Ma. we've made a step forward, as posession of less than an ounce is a misdemenor

I don't get the harmless-compared-to arguments. Alcohol and cigarettes are legal (although, it seems, cigarettes, not for long!). Like all drugs, alcohol,
cigarettes, and marijuana have positive and negative effects on the user, mentally, physically and emotionally.
That said, in small doses, alcohol is not all that harmful (and, in fact, can be beneficial). It's when people overuse it that it becomes dangerous. And it's completely legal, in any dose, above a certain age, so long as you're not driving a car. That, in my mind, does not make a good argument for pot being legal. "Hey, these people can get this other thing all they want, and as a result, IT'S KILLING THEM!"
And I don't entirely believe the "people smoke less pot than they drink" argument, either. I live in SF, which is a pot-friendly city, to say the least. I know quite a few people who smoke pot, who ration their smoking simply because it's so expensive and is in the pain in the ass to get. If they could get their hands on a pot cookie at the corner store, they'd be a lot higher, a lot more often. And you cannot tell me that is healthy.
Whether it's healthier than alcohol is irrelevant, IMO. Plenty of drugs have good effects, whose bad effects are not great over the long-term. Using ibuprofen in the long term can destroy your liver, but it doesn't mean that's an argument for legalizing pot. Again, I'm in favor of legalizing pot. It's just that pot propagandists tend to be their own worst enemies, IMO. |

There's all kinds of tests now for marijuana. Even home tests where you pee on a strip and it tells if you have pot in your system. Parents use them to
check their kids.
