The past two weeks I've been following a diet, working out, and being very good about it. I started at 142.8, and just weighed in this morning at 146.8.
What. The. FUCK.

That's probably your muscles. The yare heavier then fat and stronger. So you gained muscle. When losing weight, I look for how many inches I lost more
then the number on the scale.

Everyone always says it's muscle weight, but four pounds? Honestly? I've always been relatively active. I don't know. It's so frustrating after
putting so much effort into it.

When you start working out like that many will tell you to avoid the scale because you will gain before losing. It's the nature of muscle mass and such. I
also think people do a disservice to themselves to do all of this for the sole purpose of losing weight. I think if the focus is more on being healthy and fit
it makes it easier in the mind and will be longer lasting...and less discouraging.

It's easiest for women to gain muscle in their upper body.. bi's especially. If you want to lose numbers off the scale and not inches, I suggest you do
cardio and don't lift as much.
Also, running makes you gain muscle too. Try doing the eliptical or ski machine.. even the bike does wonders for your thighs and butt! |

A woman can't gain 4 lbs of muscle in 2 weeks. Still, relax! It is most likely water weight. If you are doing strength training, it often will lead to
water retention in you muscles. Also, make sure that you are weighing in at the same time - in the morning before eating or showering but after using the
bathroom. It is normal for your weight to fluctuate by up to 5 lbs during the day.

It's water weight. Give it time. It's only been two weeks.

SparklyBlonde - all good points. I've dieted many times throughout my life (ha, sad) and I know lots of tips and tricks. I weigh myself every Sunday
morning before I go to work because it's most convenient.
I don't know. Frustrating! |

I agree with staying off of the scale.
Unless you consumed an extra 14,000 calories, there's no way that 4 pounds is anything but water. It's physiologically impossible to gain that much muscle in that period of time. |

I've had the same thing happen. Eventually I lost 20 pounds though. The thing is, it took a while to start working, and even though I thought I was being
good, I was still doing things like eating Special K at night that made me not lose any.

I usually go by how well my clothes fit instead of by weight.
