aw i just broke out my rome scrapbook too and i wish i could go back. i had a great experience over there however since i was performing i didn't get to go
to a lot of places that i had wanted to - we just covered the basics and then skipped over to capri for the day to see the blue grotto, which i'm glad
because i don't know if i'll be able to see any more of the wonders of the world!

I'm not sure.. I didn't try going into the Coliseum. I heard there's not really much to see on the inside other than rubble.

How is the pizza in Rome? |

I thought the pizza in NY is better. It kinda tasted like sauce and cheese on a cracker.

Craaazy Jen wrote:Rome isn't known for it's pizza. If you go further south, the pizza is better. We had pizza in Florence, and it sucked. Each region is known for different foods. Naples has really excellent pizza. But I could be biased because I'm from there. lol Your pictures are gorgeous. Piazza Navona was my favorite as well as the Trevi. Did you find the Sistine Chapel to be rather on the small side? A lot smaller than pictures depict it. |

Rome is lovely but i can relate to unfriendly italians as well i´m icelandic so it´s not just people from the USA that get that kind of treatment and it´s not
just in rome i´ve been to venice and Rimini as well and i never felt welcome which is odd cause the people that worked there make there living of tourist so
you´d think they´d be more friendly.

I have never felt Italians didn't like Americans. I think it has been true that most Europeans didn't like our government, but I have always found
Italians to be very welcoming and helpful, even when they can't understand a word of what you are saying and vice versa. I am sorry you had that
experience because it is so different from the ones I have had.
I have travelled to countries where I feel people do actively dislike Americans, but Italy isn't even close to the top of that list for me. |

I learned a little bit before I left. I just studied phrases I would need like "Where is..", "How much?", "Do you speak english?", etc. We took taxis everywhere since we were pretty central it wasn't that expensive, although even though they're metered they will find any way to rip you off. I would definitely recommend trying buses or trains I didn't because my mom rheumatoid arthritis and has problems with her knees and if she was tired taxis were just easier to get to and take back to the hotel. Although personally I found the italians very unwelcoming to american tourists. I just spoke to a friend of mine who took a tour of Italy a year ago and she said the same thing. She just felt unwelcomed. It's still a gorgeous place though and definitely worth visiting. I totally agree with the people not being very friendly in Rome...i went a while back and whenever people asked us where we were from we would reply "America" and they would say "oh" kind of like in a yuck way and than stop talking to us or look away...it got so bad that we finally just started replying that we were from China, because my family and I are Asian...it was hilarious though when they'd reply in return, "How come you speak English so well?" lolz |

The camera I used was a Sony Cybershot DSC-W90 8.1 MP. I had bought it on ebay before I left for $83. I'm soo happy I got it. It takes awesome pictures.
