Valentines day is also my 6 yr anniversary with my BF. We're planning on going for a (buffet) dinner at a fancy local golf/country club, which would be followed by a salsa dance lesson and then an evening of dancing. I'd really like the opportunity to wear this dress - and its kind of a nice balance of fancy (since its a nice golf club) without being too fancy (since we live on the super casual west coast, where people never seem to wear full length dresses or anything ). But i'm not sure if its TOO revealing? The pics suck, so it might not be too obvious... the bottom is sort of rippled and flowy. Its wrapped tight around my ribcage, with a single 'bow' of ribbon. And the low cut chest area is covered with netting/beading - so its not fully open. FUll front: (Close up of the netting): Back (I would lace it up better if wearing it out): (Please ignore the fact that I'm looking like crap! Its Sunday morning, and I haven't done any hair/makeup yet Obviously I'd be wearing it with nice heels, and I'd spend more time lacing the back up so it sits perfectly )

If I tie the ribbon up tight enough, it doesn't seem like it is going to go anywhere. But the sweater idea might work. My only concern is that it might look funny over the laced back or the tie in the front? I'll have to try it out and see how it looks

For some reason it makes you look tiny on top and the length makes you look bigger on the bottom-even though you're not (see my "works out a lot" comment on top). Do you have something that isn't a tube top?

Looking at the back, the lacing almost makes my back look wide. And the zipper down the side makes the fabric pull away from my body at my hips. I definitely am bottom heavy, so I try to minimize that when possible. LuckyLeaf - I actually do workout a lot. I run and lift weights every other day I'm going to go examine my closet for other options. I'm regretting not getting this ADORABLE dress I saw last month now

Posts: 1635 (02/08/2009 4:47 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Friend Block Invite Ignore	So, I searched my harddrive for some other dresses I have - ignore all the old pics Last year, for Valentines Day I wore this D&G dress, but its about 4 sizes too big now I also have this long dress, but this pic is 3 years old now, and I also don't think it would fit: My grad dress, probably much too fancy (though it would likely fit) Crap, everything I try on just doesn't fit my body right at all anymore And of course, right when I'm trying to save money and avoid buying new clothes

Your body looks great in the purple dress too!!! I don't see a major change (however; not a great pic i guess to decipher that and I do see that you're def. more toned now).

SO, 4 was a bit of an exaggeration. I love the purple dress so much, but i just tried it on, and its not at all fitted around my waist. And sine the fabric is fairly stiff, it just sits way too wide for me (not too bad in the hip area though ) Everyone always says that they don't see any major changes in my weight though, so you're not alone on that one

Not fond of the length...like someone said it's too long. I'd suggest something that isn't strapless...you don't want to spend more time pulling your dress up than dancing. Also with your body, you don't need to stick to black. Go for a more daring color.

I definitely can see what people don't like about the dress - and next time I'm shopping I'll have an idea of how to pick a more flattering dress. I especially love the idea of getting some different colours - I tend to wear a TON of black/gray/brown neutrals. So thanks a lot for the tips And also - thank you for letting me know that my hard work at the gym is worth something It definitely inspires me to keep it up
